Found my son watching.....
Discussion
One of the latest films on the lap top tonight, seems he just googled the name and "full film"
Now this was a kids movie BUT there were links to some ads and videos that I'd rather he didn't see so I guess Parent Control required but what puzzled me was the fact that it was a .org site which I thought was government etc

.org is theoretically non-profit (so I suppose Government counts, ha). Government is .gov.country name.
You need to educate yourself a little bit, then discuss and educate your kids. No software survives contact with a determined pornhound teenager, and forays like that will lead to some not-work-friendly sites, and almost certainly to malware laden sites.
Which ISP are you with, as most have some form of basic parental control?

.org is theoretically for non commercial organisations, however anybody can get a domain ending in that and I own several. It is common for commercial enterprises often get .org equivalent of their trademarked commercial domains. Is not uncommon for crooks to make fakes of legit sites onto less common top level domains, so many companies do this defensively for trade mark reasons.
.gov is US government and .gov.uk is for UK Government sites but don't rely on all domains including gov actually always being legit governments sites. The degree of enforcement of the principles varies widely in different counties domains.
In regard to the films, welcome to the internet. To be honest pirate films should be the least of your concerns and I suggest you focus your efforts on educating your son (children) about potentially exploitative people of all types, who use the internet to 'hide' their identity, install malware, etc.

subnet your network, block tcp/udp port 53 and run dnsmasq on your home server with a whitelist.
make sure your router and server are locked away!!
also stick one of these in the house in with the server and router
a GSM jammer.
that way he'll only be able to get porn using someone elses broadband

Or, leave him to his own devices and trust him. At 10 years old he'll not be looking at anything out of the ordinary, but will easily surpass your defences without your knowledge for when he is.
Most routers can log, and can turn on basic filtering at ISP levels. So you can see what he's watching.
I'd be more worried that he's committing piracy, one that distributors can and will easily pursue, with your name on the IP address. And probably take him to the cinema more often.

Buy him a raspberry pi and then :
click here -----> https://learn.adafruit.com/onion-pi/overview
or here --------> https://learn.adafruit.com/downloads/pdf/onion-pi....
problems with piracy then, and everyone in the house can enjoy it too

Agree with all that, I admit to a bit of downloading many years ago, I thought the ISP peeps had blocked everything now. Seems not.Most routers can log, and can turn on basic filtering at ISP levels. So you can see what he's watching.

It's impossible for them to block everything, they only block what they're made to, if they block any more than competition they'll lose some customers. Only the main things are blocked really, none of the myriad of many smaller ones. Sites are made purely to get around the block.Skyedriver said:

You plug the we yellow ethernet wire into it and the other end into your modem. Then power it up via a usb plug (phone charger) Then you search wireless networks.. connect to it. Once your connected many sites that the government blocked (mainly movie sites) are now accessible. p.s. i dont own one iv just guessed.
