Are you sure it's an LGA1355 socket?

Yes guess that's true... don't mind a slightly lower res but didn't realise 4K gaming requires such expensive gear as it seems Xbox/PS4 supports them fine.

There is a big difference between native 4K and upscaled, consoles struggle with 1080p let alone native 4K.

I've had a string of Radeon cards, and recently bought a 970. The difference in noise is astounding under load. The 970 is whisper quiet on stock fans. For all my Radeons I had to fit after market coolers like Acrtic Pros to make them even vaguely quiet.

Perhaps it was the manufacturers (think I mainly bought Sapphires), but am very much impressed with the quietness of the 970.

My 970 is an MSI model and its quiet until you start pushing it but after that it's quite loud IMO. Probably more down to the manufacturer than anything else. I don't mind as I'm wearing headphones but the OH commented (PC in living room).

That's odd - the 970 should be quiet, even under load.

Erm, yes, I don't think there are any 4k games on consoles. 1080p at 60 fps is rare enough! There are certain games I don't mind playing at such low FPS, but racers and first person games are transformed with 60+ fps. In that department, a decent PC leaves the latest consoles dead in the water.

Unless its my processor fan making the noise, but I'm sure its noisier than when I had the 760 in.
