I opted for the standard S7 from my M8, I couldn't justift the extra cost for a bit of a curved screen...

Is the S7 really "waterproof" though?
Yes, I've dropped mine in a sink full of water (by accident!) and it functions perfectly.

I went for the edge but more for the larger battery and screen rather than the actual edge thingy itself.
Ahh, excellent - My concern was that there was a only a certain model of S7 that was waterproof smile

There were meant to be issues with the 'Active' version when tested. Samsung saying it must of been a duff batch.

What cases are you all rocking on your S7 edge? I'm struggling to find something that's nice, that doesn't completely encapsulate the phone and isn't a fecking wallet style case.

Spigen do a decent range of different types. I have two of theirs.

I dropped mine in a hot tub with no detriment. Awkward to use with wet fingers though.

I have one of these, about as thin as it gets. Probably doesn't offer a great amount of protection but does offer some. Makes it easier to grip too.

I've got two spine cases also:

1st is a Spigen Neo Hybrid - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Gunmetal-Premium-P...
2nd is a Spigen Exact Fit Premium gunmetal - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen®-Exact-Fit-Gu...

They're both great, the Hybrid has a good non slip back and is slightly more hardwearing, would stand up to most knocks and if you lie phone face down the beveled stops the screen connecting with the surface. I'm using the Exact fit more often as it follows the silhouette of the phone a bit better and is not so bulky in the jeans pocket. It's plastic but has a slight rubberised feel. Both cases feel they're worth more than their value.

Yeah, for me the edge is for the larger screen and battery life. The actual edge thing is pretty useless so far.

I'm actually starting to find the edge a little annoying. For instance, when I start a video playing and turn the phone into Landscape view in my hand unless I'm VERY careful I invariably start some other app up or mess up the sound etc etc etc.

My son uses my phone for playing games a lot and he is forever catching the soft buttons on the side - This never happened with the M8. I do it on occasion too, it's very annoying.

You can turn the edge function off in the settings menu.

It is only waterproof in fresh water apparently. I found out to my cost when I forgot to take my Edge out of my shorts pocket before going into the sea. The screen is screwed and doesn't work but the rest of the phone is fine as I still get notifications on my watch and can see the camera in a wear app. Will speak to Samsung when I get back to the UK but I think they will try and get out of the "Waterproof" issue by saying only fresh water in spite of the advert dropping it into soapy, salty dishwashing water... At least I'm covered with my bank account although they provide refurb replacements.

Are there any recommendations for the cheapest place to get a Samsung Wireless Fast Charger or an acceptable cheaper alternative.

Worth mentioning that I have the wireless fast charger I think, the stand-up one. It has a small fan inside and you can hear it at night frown

Interesting, I have the previous generation (flat) one and it is completely silent as far as I know (I've had it by my bed and not heard anything) - and charges my S7 no problem.

I've got the Samsung fast (stand up) one which resides next to my bed and I've never heard a single sound from it!

Yes, I have the flat one as well, and I use that instead!

Gave the stand-up one to my girlfriend for her (well, my old) S5, but I can still hear it on my side.

I've got 4 of the stand-up ones, 1 by my Bedside, 1 in my Study, 1 in the Lounge and 1 in work and none of them make any sound whatsoever. I suspect somebody has bought a duff one. In fact there is an issue with them but it's a light issue not a sound one.

In a fully darkened room (your bedroom) the light given off by the led at the base of the stand-up ones is almost like having a bedside light switched on! This isn't an issue with the flat rechargers so it makes sense to have a flat (Standard charge) one on your bedside where it has ample time to recharge your phone overnight and (Fast charge) stand-up one's everywhere else.

the flat one is a fast charge too (even says on it!) - the only benefit of the stand up one is that it stands the phone up....

I find that sometimes if the phone is left on the fast charger for the 8 hours I'm asleep it can be quite hot when I take it off in the morning. This never happens on a Standard charger and you can pick them up cheaper too.

If I use my flat wireless charger I have to restart the phone most mornings as some of the functions of the phone don't work. For example the smart cover wont work, the phone stays on when it's closed. Restart fixes it.
