Currently have an S6.
Is it worth changing to an S7?
If you need expandable memory, yesIs it worth changing to an S7?
Contract is due for upgrade, so I'm toying with either upgrading to the S7 or switching to a rolling 30 Day sim only, and hanging off for the S8.
I'm considering pulling the trigger on a s7 but I have reservations.
Can anyone here who has had one for at least 6 months tell me if the home button gets chipped/paint peels off/ stops working/is particularly fragile.
And (obviously it will be in a case) - is the screen especially fragile compared to a no edge type.
Thanks.

Mine is fine, depends how you treat it I suppose. New ones yearly I think? Expect S8 early Spring? Can anyone here who has had one for at least 6 months tell me if the home button gets chipped/paint peels off/ stops working/is particulary fragile.

The Edge is probably the best phone I've had, much better than my previous iPhones.
It's also the first phone I've managed to smash the screen on. Dropped the phone and the corner of the screen hit the floor and it smashed the bottom half of the screen. Thankfully I've got insurance and it's only a £50 excess to pay.

The 'media server' battery drain thing is related to a Chrome bug. https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail...
The bug came in to Chrome update on the 3rd August - before that it was fine. I noticed the problem on mine during August and it was driving me nuts - took ages to figure out what it was!! Not sure if it has been fixed in Chrome yet, but there is a very simple fix.
Open up Chrome and type 'chome://flags' into the address bar. This takes you to the advanced settings page for Chrome.
Enable the setting "Disables the unified media pipeline on Android". (It's a bit counter intuitive - enabling the setting actually disables the feature!)
That's it - problem fixed!
Thank you so much for this, you've added hours of life to my battery, it was draining so fast before! The bug came in to Chrome update on the 3rd August - before that it was fine. My S7 has constant problems with Mediaserver draining the battery. I'm on my second headset, and this one has already had a "factory reset" that took an hour at a "premium support centre".
SD card data deleted and formatted, gallery empty, all downloads deleted and it still happens, fed up. Should have waited for the iPhone 7 but needed an immediate replacement.

I've got an S7 (non-edge) and the screen is the most fragile I've seen in years. Picked up scratches within days and within a month was looking worse than the Sony Z1 and Nexus 4 that preceded it did after two years solid use. I didn't treat them any differently. Can anyone here who has had one for at least 6 months tell me if the home button gets chipped/paint peels off/ stops working/is particularly fragile.

It's also the first phone I've ever smashed the screen on, which thankfully got rid of the scratches but now I'm stuck trying to baby it in a way I've never had to do before. Now I see why so many Samsung owners have flip cases.
Perhaps the Edge is better, but I'm certainly unimpressed with the regular S7.
No problem with the fragility of the s7e from me and I've had it pretty much from launch. It's in a very slim case that I got for £5 from Amazon.
No scratches or cracks on the screen. I look after the phone but it's been dropped a few times and I use it for for work as well as personal use so it gets quite a lot of use.
