Samsung Galaxy S7
Discussion
I think it's too early to say what the accurate picture is, the Snapdragon hardly 'trounces' it in the brief comparisons so far. Anandtech show it's close between the S7 and G5 SOCs; if I get an S7 edge I will be perfectly happy with the Exynos chip - my S6 is fast enough so the CPU is not an issue for me. I will be interested in the G5 reviews, but the amazing screen, superb camera and waterproofing will take some beating for me.

My only gripe about the spec is that you can't make the sd card the default storage device for your pictures etc...you'll still have to transfer them to it.
They should have made the external storage adoptable by now.
Of course you can make the SD default for photos etc. in the usual way. What I think you might mean is Samsung haven't enabled 'adoptable' storage for SD card, supposedly because they think users will screw their phones up if they are given it. Adoptable storage is a new feature of Marshmallow and basically integrates the SD card into the phones main memory so it all looks like one contiguous block (as opposed to the split we see now with phones with SD cards). This means you can properly install apps onto the SD card (not the crappy half-arsed method they do now) but if you take the SD card out it can potentially corrupt your OS. Also, you need to get the fastest SD card as the S7 uses UFS 2.0 internally. So by making the SD card adoptable it could slow the phone down a bit during access. It also means you can't remove and swap SD cards. They should have made the external storage adoptable by now.
I expect Samsung will bow to pressure and enable it eventually, it's ridiculous of them not to.

Have to wait for final release results but from what I have seen an SD820 is approx 30% faster than Samsung SOC.
In some benchmarks for single core performance yes. Not that that is really relevant to every day performance. I think you'll struggle to find any difference in real world tests (app launching, page loading etc)Tycho said:
I used the adoptable SD card on my Xperia Z3 and found that there were still a lot of apps which didn't use it correctly. Play music was one. All the music went on the phone rather and I kept on getting low memory errors and "cannot install app" so I reformatted back to external SD and changed the default locations for the camera and Play music and it is fine.
Your Z3 is running marshmallow? Still waiting on my S6....robsa said:
