The settings menu is, I think, a bit of a mess - also the quick menu (where you pull down) isn't as clear as it used to be.

Anyway - As an aside - When I get notifications, I get an audible alert and a discreet flashing light which isn't very obvious. I used to use the Glimpse Notifications app to light up the screen when I got a notification which I found really useful - I seem to get it for texts, but not for anything else.

I've had to remove Glimpse, as I think it didn't work with Android 7 as it seemed to hold the screen open and the timeout function stopped working.

So the question is this - Is there any way I can get the phone to, natively, show on the screen the notifications for certain apps?
I agree on the settings and quick menu, what a pig's ear.

My battery life seems awful compared to before. Just spent 5 minutes looking at battery settings and what's using power (nothing jumping out at me) and it dropped from 13% to 6%

Unrelated to the upgrade my battery seems to have declined of late, it dropped from 100% by 18% in 7 hours last night, "always on" screen was on, but I didn't even unlock it during that time, the only app receiving push notifications is gmail. I've used it a bit today (web/email), now on 39%.

Just seems to have dropped off some, no better/worse than before the upgrade as far as I can see.

I've had this upgrade for a couple of weeks - battery life has significantly improved for me - losing about 1.5% per hour when out and about (not using it, just in my bag/pocket)

I found out this weekend you can make your wallpaper change automatically using images from your gallery. Nice touch

Having a nightmare with our Edge 7 on Vodafone.
As we need WiFi calling, it's not even an option at the moment, despite updating Android to v7, apparently it needs a special OS installed by Samsung,so it's with their service centre.. Better not be for long

Working fine on O2.

Rather disappointed to see the update did a forced install of Facebook which cannot be removed, although it can be disabled stuff like that really annoys me!

FB was in the ROM on my stock S7 like you I had to disable it as best i could do.

On a plus point I have a BT receiver I can plug in to headphones or use in cars that just have a 3.5mm aux in. Prior to the update playback used to drop a little sound every 10-20 seconds where as my spare phone worked fine S7 is now working seamlessly.

My VF handset has a wi fi calling option in the phone app settings, not sure exactly how it works though ?

I'm not feeling this OS - the settings menu is a real mess and difficult to navigate - the quick settings isn't intuitive and the look&feel of the whole thing is a mess.

Battery life is still poor and that is a real disappointment - I'm at 96% and I have no charger with me. If I get to lunchtime with 50%, I'll be surprised.

Not really heard of anyone complaining of poor battery life. Have you disabled/uninstalled all unnecessary/unwanted applications and optimised the settings?

Having just spent 3 days at the Samsung sevice centre,it STILL doesnt have wifi calling! Apparently the phone is fine & its a VF issue. VF say some of the recent batch have a software or hardware problem that means it cant get it frown
But no way do I want an iPhone

My mates S7 edge has wifi calling, mine doesn't. He's on EE, I'm on Vodafone. Both bought from Carphone Warehouse (so unlocked). I've heard you only get it from Vodafone if you get the handset from them at their comparatively higher prices. Grrr.

Yep, my S7 Edge is on Vodafone and has wi-fi calling... its in the settings menu under applications/phone and is a selectable on/off right at the bottom the screen. We rely on a SS for signal in the house and it recently packed up, so was using call over wi-fi for a few days whilst sorting out the SS...

If I go to Settings>Applications, there is no ">phone" OPTION(THERE WAS UNDER aNDROID 6 BUT NOW IN aNDROID 7 ITS IN THE SETTINGS BIT FROM THE 3 VERTICAL DOTS ON THE KEY PAD.
But when you scroll down its just not there...nothing below the "vibrate" option
Im told when Samsung updated the phone,it cut out VF wifi calling & we need to wait for Samsung to issue a fix
or get a device that boosts wifi direct from the modem or something, so all phines can use wifi calling, costs about £80 but I will see if they can do me a freebie,or I cancel the contract!

Dr X, thats right,VF only have wifi calling (supposedly) enabled on ones you get from them

My handset if a VF branded one, which explains why I have wifi calling.

I turned it on last night after posting here, I've just had a couple of notifications from "IMS Service" that say "Vodafone wifi call". Tapping the notification makes it go away, but I have no missed calls or indication that I may have received a call.

Any ideas ?

I think I've solved my high battery usage (not related to nougat) by uninstalling linkedin, the theory being that it was hogging battery a bit like the facebook app is known to do.

I had some applications update this morning - Which was a little flaky as my phone kept dropping off the WiFi, but I digress... Some of the applications that have updated have removed their icons from one of my home screens - Early iterations of Android did this and it was bloody annoying then (mainly because I don't know which ones are missing, just that there is a gap where an icon once was)...

I've never seen android do that, very odd.

Given the other issues you are having is it worth doing a factory reset ?
