Just realised that the "Always on Display" feature, which shows the date and time when the screen is off, is an absolute battery killer!

Haven't noticed that being so on mine - Samsung claim it uses 0.8% per hour. Are you sure you haven't got any apps running in the background that are eating up the battery?

I have bought lands down which is on sale for £4 at the moment. All I can say is money well spent.
Very easy to get into and really shows the VR unit working well.

After I switched it off I noticed the battery life improved. Think I did something else but can't remember what it was

I'm considering switching from iPhone and apple watch to the S7 and Gear S2. Does anyone have this combo? The gear s2 reviews I've been looking at seem to say it has some connectivity issues maybe this is resolved with the s7.

Most importantly what size sim does the S7 use? I am supplied with a nano sim from work which I will be using, I can't swap this unless I want to go back to having my own contract which I don't want to do.

The S7 uses a nano sim

That is exactly what I have done. Had the 6 plus and the 42mm watch.

I love my apple stuff but also love messing about with android as the customization is so much better.

I'm on day 2 of the switch and all I will say is its different. It's not the first time I have switched either.
I like the phone although the edge isn't really anything special, it's just it has a bigger screen than the normal s7.
I like it though, the VR was better than I thought too.
Piss easy to transfer everything from the iPhone. It comes with a USB adapter, you just plug the lightning cable into the iPhone, stick the other end into the s7 and the software does the rest, just tell it what to transfer.
I have the gear s2 classic watch, it's nice, makes the apple watch look like a toy. They all do the same stiff at the end of the day, I just like both but had been with ios for a couple of years and fancied a change.
Sim card is nano so just a straight swap.

Bought my wife a gear s2 for Xmas and she had a galaxy note 3.

The watch dropped this connection constantly and was a pain in the bum.

Swapped her note 3 for my galaxy s6 and the connection to the watch is now rock solid.

Suspect the s7 will be fine.

Spent a while last night transferring my stuff from my old s4 to the new one. Only for none of the apps to go across including sonos, WhatsApp, spotify etc.
I know I can just download them again but anyone else had a similar problem?
Also how do you create folders for apps on the home screen? The s4 was a simple menu of the left button.

I've just tested the S7 Edge against my S5.

I cloned the S5 to the S7 and both have exactly the same software (apps) installed and running (ie Outlook) - they even both have the same wallpaper.

I fully charged both overnight and unplugged the 2 chargers together at 7:30am this morning. As at 10am (2.5 hours later) the S5 is at 93% and the S7 at 95%. This is with the S7 in 'always on' mode showing the clock. Clearly this 2% gap will get bigger as the day progresses but it's an indication that the S7's bigger battery is indeed an improvement.

Interesting. How much snappier are you finding S7 apps open than on the S5?

Haven't tried that yet, but have you tried the streetview app, thought it was amazing!
Find it frustrating that if you start downloading one of the shorts in oculus video you can't cancel it though, it just starts up again.

Not tried street view, I was going to last night but was playing Lands End until I nearly ran out of battery. I have some bluetooth headphones coming today so that should make the experience even better.

I also used the google speech thing in the browser to post that message.

Impressive! I need to try the browser. You can also use speech input on the streetview app by swiping down on the touch pad on the goggles.

Downloaded this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgD5_7u2NvQ and put it in the occulus cinema app, very impressive! Was trying avatar on it but I think the copy I have must be a bit crap as the 3D effect doesn't look nice at all, quite hard to watch. Whereas the sony demo looked great.

Had to put the videos under Occulus>Movies on the phone memory (patch coming out soon to make them work on SD) and I had to make a text file called Sony 3D (which was the name of the 3D video file) and put the following in the text file including quotation marks

{
"format": "3D"
}

...and which gamepad are you guys using for the games? From what I can see the Samsung pad is discontinued and all I can see for sale are the little keyfob size controllers.

Not so much the S7, but more of a marshmallow thing -how do you get the screens to wrap around when swiping left / right? Can only get it to go to the last screen, and then have to swipe back the other way. Can't for the life of me find it in the menus and it's bugging me!
