Updated V70 Ph1 lights..treated the old girl

Hi Digby. I have a '98 V70 and while it is nostalgic to drive at night with the equivalent light support of fading acetylene coach lamps, I have decided it is simply dangerous out in the country with no street lighting.
How much did the updated lights cost, and what year '70 were they meant for? Did you update the bulbs too?

Sorry for late response! Ok, well, they are not cheap. They are approx £260 for the lamps and £60 for the indicators. As far as I know, these fit all models of this shape V70 (so the C70 and S70)
Be sure if you find them cheaper from say, Germany that they are for right hand drive cars.
I didn't change the bulbs and they do seem better, however, on some of the Volvo forums and FB pages people commented that they then did LED or HID conversions to theirs and some of the pics look like the mother ship from Close Encounters as it pops over the top of 'mash potato' mountain! A friend who I was sat behind suggested in his rear view mirror, things definitely looked like they had improved.

They came with the car and according to the volvo specialist that I use were very expensive.

Biggest issue, as with most older cars is usually down to the reflectors going dull / flaking and badly tarnished glass. The glass can be replaced and complete units aren't too bad cost wise. I've got Nightbreaker bulbs in mine and they are probably the most cost effective upgrade given two bulbs were around a tenner.

At £25 per bulb they ain't cheep but they were on a bogof ,that would be £100 just for headlamp bulbs ,the last ones that I bought were 150watt off road bulbs at £6.50 a pair .
