I'm on Three and used my sim on holiday in Hong Kong last summer. Yes you can roam using your existing data plan but in Hong Kong I was limited to 3G only which was pretty slow, much slower then 3G in the UK. Wife had a Hong Kong Three PAYG sim we bought there and it was much faster on 4G.
Three UK confirmed roaming customer were limited to 3G in Hong Kong. Don't know if that's still the case and if it applies to all countries, but something to bear in mind especially if you need it for business use.
