Apple are fking experts at marketing biggrin

Kind of convinced myself (again) that I fancy an iPhone but once again even though the 6s is only 3 months old I'm thinking "Nah hold out for the 7".

i don't think many people upgrade at every single release. I'd say most go for the major ones or the minor ones.

....no.

iphone 6 > 7
iphone 5s > 6s

etc.

every single one would mean you buy a new handset every year.

All current evidence seems to suggest that both the new 7 and 7 Plus will have uprated cameras. The 7 will be a traditional one (possible larger, brighter lens) but the Plus will be dual-lens. Will it be like the Huawei and use one for B&W data and the other for colour and then combine them? Possibly, but Apple acquired an Israeli company a couple of years ago which allegedly had a 'groundbreaking' dual-lens camera. So it could be quite intriguing.

I just bought an SE which I love, but my normal contract is up soon and if the 7Plus does have a mega-camera I may get one of those too for when I go out walking.

Other things we will likely see:
No earphone plug - I have been using bluetooth headphones for a while now (Sony SBH80) so not worried about this. You will get a lightning adapter now apparently.
Dust and waterproofing - this will be ace if true
AMOLED screen? Maybe not until the tenth anniversary iPhone next year.
32Gb base storage (at last!)

That's what I've done.

I had a first gen iphone and then went with the 'S' models thereafter. I find there's often enough issues with the first iteration of a major release that the 'S' version resolves, e.g. the iPhone 6 had issues with bending (along with some Sony, Samsung Galaxy S6 and others) but the 6S had a revised chassis that helped prevent that

I'm trying to think what I would like in the iPhone 7. And I'm struggling. Waterproof would be good. Don't need a bigger screen or more memory.

I've had 3g, 4, 5 and currently got the 6, recently toyed with the idea of going back to the smaller form of the 5se, but think I'm too used to the bigger screen for pictures/ reading web pages etc....

I'm quite interested to see what the 7 brings to the table. I think its a stick on that they'll remove the headphone jack and move everyone to Bluetooth headphones. they didn't spend all that cash buying 'beats' headphones and a massive share of the market to not capitalize on it! I have some decent headphones with cables (I mainly use my ipod classic for music so not too fussed), but as long as they provide an adapter (at a cost no doubt!) then i'll be happy enough. or some Bluetooth headphones in the box would be much better.

splash proof/ water/ dust resistant will be a great plus for me. again better battery life too. not too bothered about changing shape/ form, but they will, they need to keep the 3rd party market for cases/ accessories alive!

is there a date for the next apple conference type thing? am I right in saying this is normally end of august/beginning of sept, with products ready to roll out within the month??

I've got an iPhoen 6, so will be looking to upgrade to a 7, the better waterproofing will be good and the live photos. I think the lightening port for earphones will be interesting, as it will allow for noise cancelling earphones, without a big battery back on the lead as they will be able to be powered from the iPhone.

Hi,

Latest rumour is four variants of the next iPhone.

iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus and iPhone 7 Pro. The SE has the small screen, the iphone 7 the bigger one. The iphone 7 plus the 'big' screen and the iphone 7 pro the largest screen of them all along with a dual rear camera system.

More battery capacity and i think the antenna bands have been moved, space black colour, no old headphone jack, and the Pro version has a connector that is an extra capacity data connection or something along those lines, wireless ear buds and so on..

I've never purchased an iphone and upo until recently I have thought I never would. However, one rumour for the iphone 8 which is also expected to bring in big advancements and improvements etc is that Apple 'might' do a dual SIM version. If they do, I might well be interested to purchase one. I'd still wait for someone else to purchase it and who then puts it up for sale after a short while as I continue not to want to pay Apple retail pricing !

Cheers, Dennis!

When it comes to hardware, companies like Samsung/LG/Sony have always been ahead of apple with development, so when the first Android devices come along with such technology, Apple will quickly follow.

The iPhone 7 will be a tiny bit thinner, a tiny bit lighter, and claim to be 50x quicker than the iPhone 6s. It's the same old.

I'm not sure why people get excited and walk around with a boner for weeks before new they're released.

Whether he is right or not, I don't see why it's always touted as a negative thing. Let someone else test the market and then release something similar that's polished and easy to use. Good for the consumer and good for the company I'd have thought.

better screen? pointless. what we have now is far better than I can see.
more storage as base? also pointless. want more, just get the larger capacity one. Only old-timers store music anymore, everyone else streams it. space is only for photos.

uprated camera? depends how they do it...
more MP, pointless.
Bigger Sensor... now I am listening. Get a sensor the same as in the Nokia 808 and I would be interested. Low light capabilities of the iphone 6s are terrible.

Rumours from a well-trusted source in the states have said there will be no "iphone 7" this yea,r instead an alternative play on the 6 series so Apple can release an all new "more apecial" iphone 7 for the iphones 10 th anniversary next year, also tlak of the new/revision 2 year cycle becoming a 3 year one....
