Hi

I have tried the search and not found a post on this.

Personally I cannot wait - as I have been with my trusty 5S since launch. The form factor and more importantly size keep me stuck.

My IT base is all Apple - so another manufacturer is asking for heartache!

No problems with the phone (well apart from FB which crashes on startup every time - then loads fine) - kept at iOS 7.*

A faster phone, capable of Apple Pay would be an ideal upgrade.

I hope apple make this a technologically premium product as opposed to the 5C. Surely there is a market for 4" high end iPhones???!

I hope it gets the 6s chip set.
I have the iPhone 5s and have put off upgrading as I like the 4"screen and the feel of the phone, it's a lovely design, better than the 6 with the stripes and protruding camera lens so it won't lay flat.
Hopefully the se will have flush fitted camera lens.

looking forward to seeing what Apple bring out next.

There's been some discussion in the iPhone 6 thread - I got one today. I had the 4S which I bought at launch in 2011 and have been happy with it since. I would have upgraded when the 6 came out if it hadn't been the brick that it was. The only things really driving me to upgrade were 4G and the overall speed of the phone which had become sluggish as they always do with progressive iOS updates.

First impressions are it's a very nice upgrade - faster and more featured where it counts and a familiar size, thinner and lighter. The price was less than I paid for my 4S which is a bonus.

I bought a 16gb SE last week to see how I get on with it as I find the 6S a bit awkward to use. The SE is a lovely phone but but if I decide to keep it (Apple have a 14 day no quibble return policy) I will need to get the 64gb. The dilemma is (which I accept is first world), to buy the SE 64gb for £439 and sell my 6s for circa £475, or just keep my 6s....

Totally agree with the impressions.

I was very underwhelmed when I took it out the box - but since activation - I have been blown away.

Both the speed and the battery life are major improvements over the 5s.

Despite the critiscm of the use of the old touchId sensor in the build, - on the 5s - it would never work for me - but on SE - works every time (Probably an iOS 7 issue rather than hardware).

A jailbreak would be nice as I use terminal quite a bit - but I am sure that will come.

Sorry for the thread hijack but where's the best place to buy one outright?

John Lewis give a 2 year warranty, but I've been told
that it's best to get from direct from Apple as they are good
if there are problems (out of warranty), and the phone always remain unlocked
(Is it true that if you buy from anywhere else other than Apple, they lock
to the first network?).

Excuse the numpty questions but I've never had an IPhone before.

I believe they only lock if you buy them from a network shop. If you buy from John Lewis it should be unlocked and stay that way, the same as buying from Apple, but you should probably check with them before buying.

Not sure how good the JL warranty is so can't comment on that, but did buy my Dads iPad from there for the extra year. Price was the same as Apple.

What did you have before, if you don't mind me asking?

Iphone 4S here and, while it works ok, the 8GB memory is becoming irritating. I was umm'ing and aaah'ing about the 6s but this seems smaller/cheaper/just as good.

And now I'm wondering whether to hang on for the 7 hehe

Had a 5 for yonks. Apple gave me £100 (cash!) for it in-store so worked out a good deal for 64gb SE.

I like the angular form factor of the 5 over the rounded edges of the 6 and it's smaller size suits my usage. Throw in all the new tech and I'm a happy camper.

I'm very much on the fence about getting one.

Currently got a 64GB 6S, thinking of a 64GB SE.

Not sure I've ever really accepted the size of my 6S. Hmm. Loved my 5S.

I got an SE this week as my first iPhone and came at it from a 5.2" (I think) decent Android phone.

First impressions on the size are that if I used it as my primary internet device I think I'd be regretting it, but I don't and I was getting a little fed up of carrying a slab in my pocket, and pretty much finding myself stopping whenever I was walking and needed to use it as you needed two hands.

I still think it's a lot of money but I wanted to try an iPhone, but as a form factor it seems damned nice.

I'm debating 6s or SE at the moment. Has to be 64gb for me as the 16gb of my 5s is not enough any more. Primarily interested in getting a better camera and the larger memory, but the larger screen is tempting.

I went from a 32gb 4S to the 64gb SE - I didn't expect to be as pleased as I am. It's been a good upgrade. I think the price is pretty reasonable too.

I don't know how you manage with just 8gb!

I'm currently on a 5s but it's not holding its charge too well anymore and thinking of upgrading to the SE. I do wish they had of made a bit of effort with the styling though. Don't get me the wrong the 5 design is premium and excellent, it's just I like my new phones to feel just that: new. Feels a bit lazy from Apple.

But then you'd be paying twice as much and it would be called iPhone 7

I'm not looking for them to have reinvented the wheel, I just think for a company the size of Apple they could have tweaked the design a bit to differentiate the model from the 5 design which has been around for 4 years. Same as a car company would do to refresh things.
