But then you'd be paying twice as much and it would be called iPhone 7
I'm not looking for them to have reinvented the wheel, I just think for a company the size of Apple they could have tweaked the design a bit to differentiate the model from the 5 design which has been around for 4 years. Same as a car company would do to refresh things.
That's not the correct analogy.

What Apple have done is the equivalent of putting the F80 drivetrain and engine in the E90 body - not just a facelift or Life Cycle Impluse as BMW like to call it...

It's pretty clear that Apple are able to offer this handset at this price point precisely because they haven't retooled the thing.

I'm about to go a get an SE 64gb, currently have a 6 16gb. I've never really got on with the larger size 6, I dont spend high amounts of time watching videos on it so I think the SE would suit me well.

I would have been willing to pay a bit more for a 'mini iPhone 6s' but tbh, I'm past caring if my phone looks the latest model or not. Hopefully it'll do what I need it to.

I have a 6+ as a work phone and had a 5 that was purchased at launch as my personal phone. Just traded the 5 in at the Apple Store for £100 off a 64GB SE. I thought the trade in price was quite generous, the charging port was failing, the display was separating from the body and the battery was shot!

I love the size of the SE, it'll be nice having a phone that I can easily use one handed and not have to worry about battery life.

Wish I hadn't gone for a 24 month contract on my iphone 6, definitely would prefer the smaller SE, as others have said the iPhone 5 was perfectly proportioned. Oh well, only a year to wait!

Still umming and ahh'ing.....

I've realised that I hate typing out emails on the 4s when out and about (and usually use my Ipad instead).

Is the 6 noticeably better for texting/emailing? I have big hands.

I've got biggish hands. I can text quicker on my SE than I can on my old 6S I gave to the OH.

I swapped a 5c for an SE, its much faster, and feels better built as well, not going back anytime soon.

Could always sell your current phone then buy the se outright, wouldnt be too much cost to change dependant on condition and memory size.

Have any of you SE users noticed an issue with call quality over Bluetooth?

Seems to be a known-issue, but it's borderline unusable over Bluetooth for me at the moment. Hopefully they come up with a fix soon.

Are there any deals out there for outright purchase? I can get 2% cash back on Quidco from the Apple store. Looking at the 64GB version.

I'm currently paying £13/m for unlimited calls/text 2GB data on EE, may as well stick with that and buy a phone outright. Best plan I can get is £33.50/m.

Yes. Tried my first call through my car over the weekend and it was terrible.

Apparently the latest beta version of iOS resolves the problem, I've installed it to try tonight.

Latest beta seems to have done the trick. Made a nice clear call through my car this evening.

Knockout!

Now for a silly question - how do I get the beta?

Did the update, and it seems to have sorted the Bluetooth issue.

I've been waiting 3 weeks for the SE and EE have said it could be another 2 weeks before they get one to me.
I'm not very happy.
They cocked up the order in the first place as well.
Frustrated.

They seem to be quite popular. My local Apple Store is selling out of them within a morning of a delivery arriving.

Finally managed to crack my 4S screen yesterday frown

Popped into Apple store today to look at the SE & ended up walking out with a 64Gb. Had to go to EE to swap my Micro SIM for a Nano though.

Feels cheaper than the 4S, slightly larger & lighter though. Not really used it yet but specs suggest it should be much faster with better camera than the 4S which has been running slower even on 7. something. Be nice to finally take advantage of the 4G I've been paying for this last 18mths lol.

Hopefully call quality is as good or better as unusually I make a lot of calls on my phone!!

Mothers iPhone 5 screen smashed and the last 3rd party repair wasn't too great, causing frequent lockouts. She's been hinting for a few weeks now and I didn't see the point in paying for another repair or trying to sell a phone that I know will need a repair for the next person. Traded it in at Apple for a nice discount on the SE.

She now has my 5S with a new Apple battery and screen 3 months ago and I have the SE (I pay for all these, including the 5 that was traded in). First time I haven't gone for the latest and greatest Apple phone but the cheaper version does everything I need. Can't miss 3d touch as I haven't used it yet and not keen on the larger form factor of the other phone. Plus, now I look less of a tt using Apple Pay as I no longer have to bonk with the watch.

Got 2.5 years out of the 5S. Hoping this to last me till next years phone which is on the 10th anniversary so hopefully a significant step up from their current range.

My 4s has been struggling so finally took the plunge and bought the SE today. Feels VERY similar to the 4s. Vodafone gave me a new Nano Sim so I've managed to set up the phone.

I'm struggling to copy across all my photos and email accounts so will be popping back to Apple on Monday and ask them to transfer everything over using one of their gadgets. I just need to get a case now.
