Looking for some advice on Amazon Fire Sticks, which would be the best to purchase, as there are so many on Ebay.

Wanting to watch mainly motor sport / films, how does it all work....any advice please.

Assuming you mean loaded with kodi ?

If that is the case just buy a stick from amazon put on kodi yourself then pick a build of your choice

Its not hard I did it and I'm less than a techie ,just follow one of the many instructional videos on Youtube

The new Beast build covers just about everything you will need

Why not try this one for £35: Fire stick

I'd steer clear of Beast if it's a build you want on there, very bloated and full of crap. Paradox build if you're going down that route, otherwise just put the add ons on it that you want and keep it clean.

I've been messing with Kodi recently to replace Sky. And although there is a lot of free steams on there most of them are poor quality or buffer a lot (even on Infinity 2).

Best option I found was a subscription service called Sportsmania which has been brilliant and steams in HD.

Just passing on past experience smile

I can vouch for Sportsmania.

I got one with Kodi pre-installed and it's a bit hit & miss. You can watch movies and boxsets via it but it often requires a lot of faff trying to find a decent stream or even one that works.

If you buy pre-installed chances are most of the add ons on there will be out of date or no longer functioning at all.

To be honest with Kodi you need to understand at least how to install, update etc.

At some point you're likely to have to do a clean wipe & start from scratch!

It's not difficult and there are literally dozens of guides on how to install various builds etc.

If I were you i'd buy an empty firestick & install Theblackbuild / Paradox - you'll learn how to manage it, work technically etc and be able to keep it upto date and functioning correctly.

and to be honest there are at least 4 threads running discussing this topic.

All getting a bit too mainstream and popular, somehow they'll manage to crackdown on it all. frown

Definitely this. I bought a pre-loaded Android box as I needed it in a hurry before going abroad but it was a waste of money as quite quickly I needed to learn how to reload Kodi & install repositories. If I had known how much online support there was I wouldn't have bothered with a pre-loaded unit.

With just FilmOn (free for SD) & Sportsmania (paid) I cover 99% of what I want to watch.

If you have kodi loaded you should really install the Exodus video add on for the best tv / movie streaming experience

Dont think sports are included though

These are back on a £30 offer.

I've found that they make really good Spotify connect equivalents, with the app running. I've got a couple around the house for just that purpose. The one in the living room has a copy of Kodi on it as well.

Sportsmania has been great since I signed up.

The menu is broken down into each set of channels so theres a SkySports section (contains SkySports from Uk, Germany etc) then there's a BT Sport section etc.

its got Sports from about 25 countries maybe more.

Eurosport 1 and 2 on there live yes.

Good bunch at SM, any problems, flag them up in the subscribers FB page and they sort it out quickly.

Fire sticks are ok and have run them myself but having recently switched to an android box would recommend one over a stick if just for Kodi. If you want the Amazon stuff and like the UI then get a FTV box. Stick only has 1gb of ram which will struggle with anything like HD live streaming. You want at least 2gb ram and be able to hard wire to get the best performance.

Got this one, decent spec for the money.
