After waiting four weeks for my OP3 to arrive it was despatched from Poland->Germany->ETHIOPIA!!!!

It's now two days late and sat in a DHL sorting warehouse in Ethiopia.

It's so ridiculous it's funny.

hmmm.... appears to be worsening. I can definitely see this gradient-tint from top to bottom. Yellowish up top descending down to a slight pink hue (though the pink may just be a trick of the eye due to the yellow). It was only noticable on a dark background but you can see it on white as well now, especially when using landscape. Its more visible during the night time though, during the day its barely detectable unless on dark grey again. The thing is it seems there are many many people on the OP forums complaining of similar and some of theirs are indeed horrendous. But some have RMA'd 3-4 times and gotten horrible screens each time. So I am reluctant.
This usually happens when the screen hasn't been cured properly in the factory.

They use UV light to bond the screen together and if it hasn't been under it for long enough then over time it yellows.

This happened to me with my Oppo Find 7 which is the same company that produces the One plus range, I was all set to RMA it back as its a common issue when someone on a forum said they had good results using a uv lamp at a nail bar so I tried the same using the UV lamp in the garden that sterilises the water in the pond, left it under it for a minute and it completely cured the issue.

Yes I had wondered this as I have seen it before on various other displays. In fact I remember when the Santa-Rosa based Mac Book Pro's came out at the internet was awash with complaints of yellow tinting. They've had it on iPhones and iPads too.

I would expect to see it under light/white backgrounds (which I do) but perhaps not dark ones...but then AMOLED does struggle with low light grey tones. Especially Pentile displays it seems.

OH has a UV nail curing thingy so I shall give that whirl tonight!

Gave it a go but no cigar. Gave it a good five minutes. Not much change if any.

Think i am gonna try forget about it.

I did remove the pre applied protector and I think the screen looks a little better. A bit more crisp. I've never had need of one in the past so fingers crossed that continues.

The phone finally arrived today.

So far it's far exceeded my expectations and just generally a nice change from using the iPhone!

These are exactly my thoughts when I switched from a 5S to the OP3 a couple of months ago smile

So after around a week of OP3 ownership it's going back using the 14 day money back guarantee.

I just have to be honest with myself and shamefully admit that if it's not an iPhone then I'm just not going to get on with it.

I tried hard to get into the Android experience but (maybe after many years of iPhone ownership) it's just not intuitive enough and really just a bit clunky.

I'll openly admit that I'm sucker for anything Apple. But at the end of the day, it just works.

Edited to add that although I thought the large screen would be a positive it's really a little too big in real life.

It's interesting that you feel that way. I now use my OHs iPhone and get annoyed at various things that aren't readily accessible and easy to use. Also I despise the cacophony of apps that is the iPhone home screen.

To each their own though tbh. I think most phones are much over muchness these days and I await the next personal computing revolution.

Just had an email about +3T. Surprised there is an upgrade so soon. Is this the Lotus of phones?

Yeah, got that too. Not very impressed they've done an Apple so quickly...

Same RAM, option for more storage, different GPU if I remember rightly.
There's probably a bunch of other shifts too.

I'm quite surprised they've bothered to upgrade the 3 to the 3T mid-life, it's not something I've seen a phone manufacturer do before.

If you're buying one in the UK, it's probably better value to get a £329 OP3 now, rather than be forced to get a £399 OP3T later on. The 3T is the better device, but I'm not convinced that an upgrade which essentially amounts to a ~13% larger battery and a slightly faster SoC, which isn't needed in the slightest, is worth an extra £70 (or an extra 21%, if you prefer).

In the US the 3T is only an extra $40/£32 (10%), which is much more palatable.

All of that aside, I think the worst thing from this is that next year's OP4, which might actually be a worthwhile upgrade over either the OP3 or 3T, will almost certainly be well north of £400 in the UK now. frown

I very nearly bought the 3 but changed my mind at the last minute with rumours of it being discontinued (and performance degradation of previous models).

The 3T seems an odd step so I'm guessing it wasn't deliberate. Maybe they were forced into it due to supplier issues.

.
I went from Android to iPhone and I'm constantly annoyed by it. Also I could not deal with number of apps and the randomness of their location either. First thing I did was to re-order them into logic and also decrease number of apps per screen. At the time that was all Apple allowed rolleyes although unused apps can be removed now.
