Backing Up Webmail emails ?
Discussion
My email is , and has been for a while, solely Webmail ( Talktalk ).
While this is fine if my computer ( Apple MacMini ) stops working as I can access them from any other device.
My question is : can I backup/ download my stored emails etc so I have copies if anything happens to the Talktalk server ?
PS I am not a computer techie !!
Any advice welcome !

You'll need to connect with a client via POP/IMAP and take a local copy of the mail.

Thanks for all the replies.
I would quite like to keep the talktalk email address because I have had it for years.
If I can get talktalk to work on my Mac ( I had problems a couple of years ago hence my using webmail ) so I would not have to rely upon the ISP would that be any more secure ?

You could set TalkTalk to forward to something like Gmail.
I get that people know your TalkTalk but I can only reiterate my point that they have an appalling record for security as well as ISP email generally not being anything like as "stable" as using something like Gmail.
I'd certainly come up with a migration plan.

As per the last few comments, even if you aren't logging on to your ISP's website to check your email you will still be relying on them.I would quite like to keep the talktalk email address because I have had it for years.

I would strongy suggest using an idependent mail provider - such as gmail etc and start to transition away from your ISP email. you can set up gmail to check your ISP email (the same way Apple Mail would) so you don't miss any emails.
