Was just reading BBC about the sneaky Microsoft 10 update so came to work to have a look and my surgery pc is showing 50% updated to Windows 10. I know for a fact that my dental management software will not work in Windows 10!!

If I turn off the computer will it stop the update or am I fked?

Help!

Do not turn it off. Let it finish then back up important data before rolling back:

To access this [roll back], open the Start menu and select Settings. Click the “Update & security” icon and select “Recovery.” You should see a “Go back to Windows 7” or “Go back to Windows 8.1” option. Click the Get started button to get rid of your Windows 10 install and restore your previous Windows

On the ones I have done it did not lose any data but have heard of it losing some files for others so back up your files to be sure.

Ah thanks very much chap, you saved my bacon!

No problem with data loss as the server is not updating, just the one in my room.

Cheers! thumbup

Just while you're at it, you could check your software to see if it runs in "compatibility mode", that way you know if you ever have to get a new machine...

Well to be fair I did get an email from my software manufacturer earlier that day warning me that it may well not work with 10.

But yes it doesn't seem too bad, not very devil's spawny at all really smile

You have got 30 days before the roll-back files get deleted - test it thoroughly!
