SIM only deal with Three. £27 a month for unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited data*, 30Gb of which I can use as a personal hotspot, and 12Gb can be used for Feel At Home.

  • saying that, unlimited data is actually capped. At 1Tb a month. Something to do with OFCOM rules apparently (according to the helpdesk guy I spoke to), where no-one can offer a truly unlimited service, so Three set their "all-you-can-eat" data cap ridiculously high.

I broke my phone and didn't have £600 spare for a new one at the time so.

"Free" S7 a week after release.

Unlimited calls and texts 10gb a month.

£64 a month for 12 months on Vodafone.

I refuse to be locked into 24 month contracts. I prefer sim only rolling deals.

EE, unlimited calls & texts, 2Gb 4G data, approx £14.00+ VAT SIM free.

Bought two iphones outright, previous iPhone lasted 4.5yrs & would still have a value had I not broken it frown Should save me a fair chunk of cash over the years.

I've just switched to EE:

Samsung Galaxy S7
Unlimited UK minutes and texts.
25gb per month UK data.
Unlimited EU & US minutes and texts.
500mb per day roaming data.

£40 per month (24 months)

Oh, and the connection is pretty quick too:

I was on Vodafone before and they couldn't match that. Neither the connection nor the price-plan.

Out of interest, how did you get that so cheap? According to their website it's £55.99 a month plus £29.99 upfront and that's for only 20gb of data.

The contract on my HTC M8 is coming to an end, so I'm reading this thread with interest!

just finished paying £32 odd for a HTC One with 1gb data on the O2 Refreseh thing. Not a particularly good deal in hindsight and especially as I can rinse the data pretty fast without ever touching calls and texts. I don't know why they bother now, just give people data.

The phone part of the contract is finished and I just made the phone nicer by ditching the HTC launcher for Nova Launcher so I may hang on to it for a while. O2 have a current offer on sim only tariffs. They give you double data so can get 4gb/mo for the price of 2 which is £18 a month. So I might do that.

I have to say though I don't think any of them have particularly attractive deals if you want to go down the new phone route again. Places like mobiles.co.uk seem to be able to undercut quite a bit. You could get a HTC 10 for a tenner and £31.50 a month for 3gb. O2 themselves can do something like £33/mo for 2gb and you pay £119 for the phone I think! Its even worse if you want an iPhone or a Galaxy S7.

O2 still offer tarrifs for 500 MB data. Who the fk would that be for these days? Google maps rinsed more than that on a long trip once!

£20 ish now was £12.90 until Three ramped prices up. I would change but stuck between a rock and a hard place as it's still competitive with unlimited data and I don't fancy any of the phones they offer on contracts. I bought my Nexus 5 up front to.

I'm approaching the end of my current mobile phone contract, which is about £30 per month (give or take depending on how many out of allowance calls I make), it was a 24 month term. For that I got a HTC One M8 and unlimited mins/text and 10Gb data (EE).

I've just had a look around since I fancy upgrading to the HTC 10. The price starts from £50.99, then an additional £29.99 on top (for the exact equivalent above). The price of the top end contract is £74.99 per month!

Doing the calculations, it makes absolutely no odds to be locked into a contract since you can get the HTC 10 brand new for £510 and the price jump from £30 to £50.99 is almost the same over 24 months but you are locked into a contract and also there'll be a price increase in March...

It seems an awful big jump for me and it just got me wondering since I've seen a couple of lease deals for cars that are <£100 (per month).. it seems a bit detached from reality - is anyone really paying that much for just a phone?
Yep, I just took out the EE complete tariff at;
50gb 4g internet (the faster than me on my wedding night badum tishh)
unlimited minutes
unlimited txs...
Iphone 6s plus 128gb..
Plus the option to upgrade 12 months instead of 24.

Now the iphone 6s plus 128gb is like £800 or there abouts and seeing as the iphone 7 is out this year, which they allow to you to upgrade at this time next year... i think it is worth it.. especially seeing as the phone was free.
That said I do have THREE's sim only with the
all you can eat data inc tethering (how i miss ayce tethering frown)
600 minutes
and ayce texts. I am keeping my NOTE 3 so its only £25 a month..

I've just had a quick look and the plan for your iPhone 6s plus is £79.99 per month..! You say you got the phone free but it lists a one-off £9.99 on top of that too. I know that you can upgrade at month 12 (no way it will be <£80) and I highly doubt that the latest and greatest will be without a one off charge also. By month 12 you'd have already paid (12 x 79.99) £959.88.

You don't mention you other plan costs also..

I guess you must just be more well off than me or just that I'm extremely tight because I'm already sweating just thinking about handing over that kind of money just for a phone (and plan). Hope it doesn't sound like I'm having a go at you because I'm not.. it's just that I don't understand it!
