Just paid the last £20 on my phone on O2 refresh leaving me with a 30 day rolling contract of £18.33 for a gig and unlimited calls/texts

Had a peek on the O2 site at the sim only deals and was about to go for the £18.50 option which gives 2GB a month, but if you do it before end of june you get doubled to 4GB. Then I realised, next to it was a new entrant...£20/mo for 20GB!!!

So signed up for that!

I have been tempted to plump for a new phone because my One M8 was getting on my tits. After careful research I would probably have gone for a Galaxy S7, despite touchwiz, because even with it, it still seems to be the fastest phone out there and with a smaller install than the supposedly bloat-free HTC 10. I think Samsung being a DRAM/SSD maker shows as they've put some serious memory/storage chips in there! You can always uninstall the crap and switch launchers.

Added to that water proofing and glass/metal design and I was ready. But I went back to the "switch launchers" idea and tried Google Now, then Nova on my M8 and I am now quite happy to keep it. So much smoother to use and removing/disabling some of the bloatware has helped markedly too!

Anyone who takes out a contract is insane.

I have been screwing Orange for years, rolling over on no contract month by month and continuing to threaten to leave unless they pander to my demands.

For the past few months I have paid £9 per month, which has just last month decreased to £7 per month. There is no contract, and I get 500 mins, unlimited texts and 2.5gb of data. I regularly call and pester for more discounts, just to keep them on their toes and ensure I am doing the best I can.

I buy nearly new phones second hand - the latest of which I purchased in March, a Samsung S5 which is in shop floor condition, paid £140 for it and couldn't be happier. I worked out that with the equivalent contract deal to get an S5 I am saving more than 50% of what I would have been paying.

£40 a month
5gb data
iphone 6s - I think it cost £30 for the phone
unlimited minutes and all that

It's my phone but I expense it each month so wasn't worried about getting the best deal particularly.

Three Mobile SIM only:
£15 per month
200 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited/all you can eat data
4Gb tethering
also unlimited three>three calls I think
- includes a discount of about £3, which they applied left 02 for Three and have continued to apply even after they said they wouldn't after the recent shake up.

Three

£15 per month

Unlimited calls/texts

4GB data

30 day contract

I buy my phone outright (Apple 6S)

I was on the Three unlimited deal for £15 then received the letter stating it was coming to an end and my new monthly price would be £30. Like others I called and cancelled and they offered me the above. I like Three as I have a home signal box and the ability to use your data allowance abroad (mainly the US).

I've just had a look around since I fancy upgrading to the HTC 10. The price starts from £50.99, then an additional £29.99 on top (for the exact equivalent above). The price of the top end contract is £74.99 per month!

Doing the calculations, it makes absolutely no odds to be locked into a contract since you can get the HTC 10 brand new for £510 and the price jump from £30 to £50.99 is almost the same over 24 months but you are locked into a contract and also there'll be a price increase in March...
Have a look at these:-

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not yet - but it worked for me.

I'm with Vodafone and they sent me a text recently saying that their price plan had changed more than a certain % and I was free to cancel my contract without charge and keep the phone.

so I did - and then I took out a sim only deal for £17 - 5gb data - few hundred minutes and texts.

My original plan was £40ish.

may work for some other people too.
