Ipod touch replacement

Hi

My daughter has an ipod touch which the screen and battery are slowly dying. She uses it for music (bedtime stories), plus watching videos on youtube etc.

What is the bet thing to replace it with. I am tempted with a smart phone of some description but without a SIM card? Cheaper the better.

How about a slightly bigger tablet, the Kindle Fire is brilliant for kids IMO, they even do a specific kids version for a bit extra that's worthwhile.

This seems like a sensible idea, especially as all the content will currently be on iTunes and a new Touch will just be able to connect to the iTunes.
