I have wanted to keep my first Gen Nexus 7 on Kitkat(4.4.4), but I have accidently downloaded the 5.0.2 update.

I have not installed this as I dont want to, due to the problems that people have had with the update.

Question is--- it is telling me to restart the Nexus to install the update, so now I dont want to turn it off as it will then install it.

How can I get rid of the update ?

I have attached the nexus to my computer to see if I could see the update and delete it, but cant see it !

Thanks in advance.

Factory re-set?

Not sure if that rolls back to the original OS...

I tried a Factory Reset on my Motorola G3, sadly it didn't work.

If you do find a way to roll back to an earlier version of Android then I would love to know how. The new memory management system has made my phone all but useless.

It can be done. I've done it.
Can't remember how though sorry.
Google?

It wasn't anything complicated.

I think the update is held in the cache of the phone and to wipe that you'd need to boot into recovery.

Turn off the Nexus.
Press and hold Volume Down and then press and hold Power until the tablet turns on. ...
Press Volume Down twice to highlight Recovery Mode. ...
Hold down the Power button and press and release the Volume Up button once.
