I'm looking for a dual SIM phone to avoid having to carry both my personal iPhone and my work phone. Needs to be 4G, 4" screen and I suppose Android, would prefer iPhone but I know it's a non starter. Unlocked. Both SIMs need to be active at the same time, ideally if I'm on a call, I'll get a call waiting beep on the other number, possible?

Options. Ruggedised would be nice and the ability to remove SIMs easily so I can revert to my iPhone if I want.

So what are my options?

Oh and budget £100-£200??

Was just looking at this the other day: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/mobile-phon...

I picked up a cheap Chinese dual sim Android a few years ago for working in Africa; iNew V3 to be exact. Still on the go now (dad has it as his first ever smart phone now I'm back in the UK) but there was plenty of options available. Phone was very good actually; both sims active at the same time and it just asked you wish sim you wanted to use for outgoing calls/texts/data etc. Plus the ability to rip the back off the phone to access the battery and sims was a revelation after years of iphones! Build quality was ok for the price, but the screen glass was very soft and scratched easily.

Rumour has it the new iphone might have an dual sim option...

The budgegt alone would probably rule out a recent iPhone anyway. Try a Moto G and carry a camera around instead

Whatever you go for check it works on your network here. O2 tends to be the problem one network in the UK as they only use one band for 4G that isn't popular in the far east where many of these phones are targeted. I opted for an LG G4 (probably still a little more than £200 now) H818p variant from the middle east works ok on O2.

Spend another £100 and get a Oneplus 3. Well worth it.

Sony Z3 is available as dual sim, been out a few years so look to be available for a fraction over £200. Not ruggedized but they are waterproof and with cheap e-bay cases on them I've dropped both my old Z1 compact and current Z5 compact several times without damage, they seem pretty tough.

had the same issue - always carrying two handsets around

I bought an HTC One E9Plus - does everything I need and works perfectly on O2

The only disadvantage is that as a grey import, there isn't much choice of accessories. I got a glass screen protector from Chine, but my favoured cradle (Brodit) doesn't do anything, so I had to revert to a universal cradle

Otherwise - great phone

So I went for the Wileyfox Swift, just unboxed it to find it's too big! My mistake, thought it was the same size as my iPhone 5, measured the phone rather than the screen, doh!

So any recommendations on a dual SIM phone which has a 4" screen?

Take a look at the Good Talk dual sim enabler for iPhone.

Basically stores another SIM card, your iphone connects to it via bluetooth. You download an app and all of the calls are managed from a single device. Call comes in, iphone shows you which SIM it's being addressed to.

I can't find the latest version, but there's a new one a friend just showed me today, it's tiny, a litte thicker than an ipod nano, definitely pocket size and works great.

Thanks! looks interesting, problem is I'd still need to carry another device about, I'm trying to avoid this.

This might help in your search:

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/mobile-phon...

FYI - whilst both SIM's can be active at the same time, if you're on a call on SIM 1, then a call to SIM 2 will fail ... caller will not be able to connect, so there is no indication to you that someone is calling on SIM 2. There might be a handful of phones which are true "DUAL" whereby they are essentially two complete phones in one .. but they're rare.

Thanks, already read that, not very definitive. . Yes I want a proper 'active' dual sim phone.
