A couple of months ago I said a beer name that I'd never said or typed/searched for on either my laptop or phone before. The next time I check my Facebook a couple of hours later on my mobile, I get a sponsored advert for said beer, Warsteiner. I dont often drink beer, don't follow/like any alcoholic brands on Facebook, and hadn't searched for any beer brands or visited beer orientated websites.

Quite a coincidence.

That penis enlargement advert was because it knows your height and when you pee it can work out the distance the pee travels to the pan and then has worked out you need help biggrin

ive been noticing sponsored ads appearing on my facebook lately. pretty annoying because if i click on an ebay link on here then it appears as sponsored stuff.

case in point.

one food topic was talking about manual knife sharpeners. i really do not care for it but clicked on it to see what people were talking about. now im getting sponsored ads on them on facebook, from ebay. pretty annoying.

This maybe entirely coincidental...

However I spent a month reporting every advert on Facebook as something I wasn't interested in....

The adverts became more bizarre, however not had an advert on my facebook android news feed for weeks now!

Just remembered another thing, someone told me an address, I opened Google maps, just as they said "2 Dixon st" I typed "2" and 2 Dixon st was the first suggestion, a street I'd never been to, in another town that I hadn't been to in 3 years

That seems to go in waves for me, because I do the same thing. Wait a month or two and suddenly it's full of adverts again - they don't even start with one or two and build it up. Nope, straight in with dozens of PPI adverts telling me that "most people don't know this brilliant way to check if you had PPI". Presumably this is also one of those "great tricks that the banks don't want you to know about".

Recently got a flood of ads about insurance for your funeral (don't know how it's called in English).

I'm just about 30, in good health,... I have no idea why I get these ads or how I'm a target audience? hehe

Even more convinced its listening now. Not targeted adverts as such, but marketplace adverts.

We've been discussing getting a new table for the last few days, but haven't looked online. Today my marketplace suggestions are for 2nd hand dining tables. Too much of a coincidence.

I really don't like it. Wife asks me the other day while in the car - "would you like an Under Armour t-shirt for your birthday?" "Yes" says I, "a black one".

On the Facebook webpage on the mobile an hour later, with neither of us actually looking up said product in a browser - an Under Armour Sponsored Advert, showing..... a black t-shirt.

No wonder the batteries run down so fast if its listening all the time. I even have microphone access disabled for all apps which is even more concerning.

I might have mentioned this before but can't remember. We were in a restaurant in NZ with some friends from Australia and were discussing the merits of holidaying in Nusa, Queensland. Phone was on standby and in my pocket the wife's phone on standby in handbag and three hours later when I switched on my PC and went into Chrome to look for something low and behold up popped adverts for hotels in Nusa, Queensland, the mrs is on Facebook but I'm not so can't fathom how the connection was made and is too much of a coincidence, the laptop was a macbook and the phone a Samsung Galaxy S6.

She probably is without realising.. one of her friends shares contacts with facebook to see who she might know.. boom, facebook shadow profile is born.

Now the question is.. how the hell do we extricate ourselves from all of this?

Watching London's Burning on telly, and "brigade order 373" is mentioned. I go to google it to see if its a real thing, I type "brigade" and it's the first thing that comes up... Tad obscure to be coincidence? If people want to try, I'll happily back down.

Also happened when MrsSE and I were watching Mrs Doubtfire, first thing for "mrs" when everyone else got "mrs browns boys"...
