Any Ruby on Rails devs here? Need to help a charity

Hi,
If you know anything about deploying Ruby on Rails websites and are willing to give me some tips on how to move a site from one server to a new one I'd really appreciate some help. This is for a small national mental health charity and I'm not being paid for the help - just trying to do them a favour. (I'm into PHP, was referred by a business contact but have no experience of Ruby.) Their existing host is closing down in a few weeks and their site needs to move asap.

I have to move an old Ruby app up to a new linode soon. I have no idea what I'm doing. I think there are issues with old versions of ruby and security and new servers but there are projects to help. Thanks buggalugs. For the same security reasons the existing host of this site has also recommended rebuilding the website using more up-to-date technology, but the charity doesn't have the resources for this. There are Ruby hosts out there but I don't know whether they'll support these 9 year-old scripts if the app is so out of date.

What version of Ruby and Rails does it use?
Whom is the current host and who are you looking to move too?
I presume the app is in a repo of some kind?
Do you know if it has a deploy script?
