Locations services off? I keep mine off unless I need it.#
So mine doesn't do this.

So whats the next big advance in mobile phone tech that's going to make us go 'oh wow' or even perhaps 'oh fek!'?

Targeted and location specific advertising.

I've been talking about this at work recently.

In theory, as someone approaches one of our outlets, we could send an offer to their phone to encourage them to stop there. Don't think anyone has had the bottle to implement it yet, though.

Had this walking around the Geneva Motorshow. The phone received a message via Bluetoth saying I'd won a prize and that I should go to the Alfa Romeo stand to collect it.

And I had. Not much different I guess. (and was about 7 years ago!)

Sadly it wasn't an Alfa 8C. or any other car....

Haven't received such push advertising since though..

Spam me with location specific advertising as I walk near your shop, and you would have encouraged me to shop elsewhere.

The instant I walk through the door of Terminal 3 on my lunchbreak, I am reminded to use my Heathrow Reward Points, as I have the card linked to my Apple Wallet.

Also, o2 Priority has some of this functionality if you choose it within the app. All depends on your preferences

I'm running the IOS 10 Beta, and my iPhone has just started telling me when I parked my car in the morning.
I f***ing know where I parked the car, I was driving it!
Although this tool would have been handy at an air show several years ago when I lost my car for several hours and had to wait for most people to leave frown

What's next? 5G in around 2020. It's being tested in Berlin now. Apparently about 100 times faster than 4G although I find that hard to believe. 3D video calls? If I must.

You say that but I get frustrated when I'm in a 3G area hehe
I remember when 3G came out and everyone was excited!

Happens on the Waze sat nav app - driving along and you get pop ups for dealers & such as you get near their motorway exit etc.

Is the Beta stable enough for everyday use?

I get the odd reminder that "this application is not designed for 64 bit operation" etc, which I have not seen before and the odd application crash, but on the whole, yes.

As normal, you will be duly informed by Apple of what you need to know, when Apple has decided what you need to know.
