I heard on the radio Facebook are considering that.
Facebook and adblock are in a nice little game of chase at the moment.

"We're disappointed that ad blocking companies are punishing people on Facebook as these new attempts don't just block ads but also posts from friends and Pages,"
Add blockers are the ones "punishing people"? rofl

I've been using Adguard for last few days, seems to do the job on Microsoft Edge.
Unfortunately it's not free though...

if you're got a raspberrypi lying around, I can strongly recommend pihole. It's the "nuke it from orbit" option.
Never heard about this, now I've got another use for my Pi thumbup

I've gone Chrome and Adblock.

The banners at the top are gone but I can still see and ad to the right of posts.

Download uBlock origin, it does a slightly better job. You can run both at the same time. I also run Ghostery at the same time which deals with tracking stuff.

I have just set this up.

Jesus, how much advertising and tracking do Pistonheads have going on in the background? Is so much faster, it is like switching from dial up to fibre!

Opera has an ad blocker built in, it's very effective and easily disabled if a page won't run with it on:

I got that too, after using AdBlock for years, and even after installing uBlock.
I finally got rid of it by adding a custom rule in uBlock.

Right click in the advert frame -> Block Element...

Is their a way of blocking all ads? in windows 10 some programs that are with the OS like news app have advert, is their a way of blocking these but not blocking them in the browser as I still want to use 4od and don't mind the adverts associated with that?

AdBlock and uBlock allow turning off for specific sites.
They add an icon to the browser menu bar that you can click on for options.

Blocking ads from within applications probably requires adding the specific urls to your hosts file.
As I mentioned above (first page), some pre-made lists are available.
