It will work fine once you have the phone unlocked, so long as you are going to one of their "Feel at Home" countries.

I use Three abroad quiet a bit and I've found that sometimes the network that it automatically selects is pretty slow, so normally deselect automatic network selection and switch when required - e.g. in Florida T Mobile (where I visit) is rubbish where as AT@T is much better.
