I have a mains powered Seagate 1TB HDD which has a Mini USB connection (same width as micro usb on your smartphone but about twice height) Having misplaced the cable I purchased this http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001U3ZP2O but it doesn't seem to be recognised.

Any reason why it is not connecting to my computer? I want to do a belt and braces backup of 100Gb of photos before deleting photos from my laptop, it needs a bit more breathing room.

Might be a,crap cable I had one that wouldn't work properly. Haven't you got another lead to try anywhere? Satnav are often the same lead, my Garmin is.

Crap cable is probably my diagnosis too, but grasping at straws, as probably to much hassle to claim money back. Had some mini USB before but just can't find them as they have been tidied away. LOL
