I would suggest if Samsung wants to make itself stand out more and become as iconic as the iphone, then it needs to start developing (if it hasn't already) apps specific only to the Samsung.
Much like Nokia did with windows phone a few years back.
Apps like Nokia Drive/Here+, Nokia Maps, Mokia Music/MixRadio etc were awesome. A big awesome music app that's free/cheap like Mixradio would dominate the market.
As said before, many have tried but failed miserably. It's what happens when a company that isn't used to making software tries to.
In general, they aren't necessary either. Samsungs android added some functionality but much of that has become standard in Android (and iOS for that matter) over the years. Up to the point where all they add is "bulk" or stuff 99% of the people will never use.

Being so iconic, and the only version, the iphone is so much easier to talk about, to integrate into vehicles, accessories etc. You can't say the same with android as an ulephone won't fit in the same dock as an s6.
Bit of an odd point that could be made a couple of years ago. But at this point, Apple sells 3 different size phones. The only common factor is the lightning in the center.
Bluetooth and wireless charging solves this for the most part. And almost every Android phone has 1 charging port in the center as well.

The last thin you want for car integration is to have to plug in your phone every time you get in the car imho.
There's many words I could use to describe Apple, but one thing you can say about them is that they want to push wireless tech forward (did it with early 5ghz adoption in their computers for example). So having a "dock" seems very "late '90s" to me.
I also know a lot of people who "burnt their fingers" on expensive docks for the iPhone 30pin connector, only to have it discontinued a couple years later.
That's not to say a wireless standard can't change though, but shape and connector of a handset?

Tbh, with the dismissal of the 3.5mm jack on some smartphones (Motorola, now Apple), and wireless charging coming up, I wouldn't be surprised to see a smartphone pop up without connectors in the next couple of years.

Here's a couple more 7 pics, I was quite pleased with them:

Hmm, any way to put them up in good quality? Something seems to have toned them down, they're only 1352x1014 for some reason :/.

Yes? Tbh, I don't know of any that don't anymore so I just said "almost" before anyone comes up with some chinaphone you can't even get over here :P.
If you're really that set on picking holes in my story, how about the fact that wireless charging isn't that widespread yet? wink

Has anyone received a Jet Black 7+ 256GB yet? *

Only ask as I ordered one for delivery on launch day and have now had 3 delivery dates missed, these being:

1 Launch date (advised the night before at 20:38 by SMS)
2 Last Monday (26th) and
3 Tomorrow (the “very latest it’ll come…” or so I was told

After the first missed delivery EE’s formal communication said, on the 16th, that delivery would be made within 28 days…and current advice (from call centre today) is that it may be another 21 days…or more.

EE have handled this horribly; I tire of the continued blame of Apple as it’s EE that have said they would deliver the phone 3 times (I have made arrangements, they have failed to deliver) and I’m wondering if I can be arsed:

1 Waiting for this phone or
2 Staying with EE

Details of others’ experiences would be welcomed!

  • I know I don’t need it but my usage and man-maths actually made it cheaper to get a new phone (very good deal from EE – corporate discount and as I have been a customer since 1999) than keep my old 6+ on a (heavily discounted) SIM-only deal.

I've been a customer with EE/Orange since '99. But they are just s. THe deals I am offered with them are laughable, so I'll be jumping ship as soon as I can get my interest free deal with Apple. biggrin

I'm surprised the amount of battery that get used just for streaming music / radio. Watching videos seems to take up no more battery.

My battery is done for by 7pm!

GAME gave me £270 for my iPhone 6 64Gb today, quite how they think they'll make any profit I don't know but who cares!

iPhone 7 is typical new iPhone really, its better in every way, its nicer to use, but it hasn't changed how I do anything.

Something wrong with it then. I can get nearly 3 days out of mine.

Same as CEX etc - will sell for £400-odd. Demand is there.

I'm just about to buy a 7... but is anyone in here experiencing Bluetooth issues? I've seen some tech articles in the last few days that claim there are serious issues with the Bluetooth.

I'm hoping the battery is good. I've never had an iPhone that lasted more than one day on a charge, and my current 6 is flat by about 3pm every day.

They're 3024 x 3024. Not sure if they'll come out properly here.

Insane that such photos can come from a phone these days.

There's no real improvement over the 6/6S really for battery life, marginal but not going to last a day if yours is dead by 3pm. Plus model has a significantly larger battery obviously.

Yes indeed. My thoughts too.

I doubt many camera phone users will spend time composing shots as you might with a Leica - but for hight quality 'snaps' they're hard to beat.

To be honest I've not used m Canon 5D MKII with L lenses for quite a while and I can't see that changing now I've got a 7

Malcolm doesn't mind having his photo taken on occasion wink

Flash on auto and shot from about 10 inches, no cropping.
