Went to an apple store ... I was left completely underwhelmed...
This was me a little while ago (I posted on here about it). I've just been to an Apple Store again and had another play and am now set on the 7Plus. I knew I wouldn't resist a new shiny gadget for long...So, quick question. The Jet Black in the store was covered in finger prints, and even the screen of any of them seemed covered in them. How are people finding them in the real world in this respect? The 6 screen was pretty good for now showing fingerprints.
I'm hoping it's just a case of the kids in Bluewater going straight from Maccy D's to the Apple store with their greasy little paws...

You will have - click the main settings icon, then notifications, messages, then deselect the "show on lock screen".
Thanks, I've just found it and realised I turned that off when I first went looking for the settingMust be a glitch. I've backed it up so I could try a reset

What's in that article is consistent with what I saw in the Apple store in Kingston about a week after launch, the phones were in much worse condition than I thought they would be even accounting for the harsh environment. I reckon if you don't intend on putting it in a case then you have to make peace with the fact it will only ever look good for the first week you have it, and even then only after you've given it a quick wipe to get rid of the fingerprints. I reckon you'll have fingerprints all over it unless you have the worlds driest hands, although I will admit I have no direct ownership experience of one.

I have a jet black 7 plus, without a case it gets covered in fingerprints. I got this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scratch-Resistant-i-Blaso...So, quick question. You get used it it. The "normal" home button on my work iPhone 6 feels so strange now after a month with the 7.
Agree with that. It now feels very natural and the old mechanical buttons feel very clunky in comparison. It's like when Android went from the physical buttons of the original Desire etc. to soft buttons, it seemed a big leap but made so much sense in retrospect. Not directly related to the button but a key factor in enabling it, and currently an iPhone 7-only thing, are the nuanced haptics on some of the UI interactions. Some of these are great, particularly scrolling through lists and to denote the end of a document, photo roll etc. when swiping.

Still finding the lack of headphone jack a slight irritation. I don't have headphones with me all the time, got a call and wanted to use headphones. Asked my wife whose handbag seems contain everything and she gave me hers. Took me a second to realise they wouldn't fit. Sigh.
It'll get better as people upgrade their phone -- there will be more with the new headphones.

Just an iPhone question rather than an iPhone 7 question. Does anyone know how to set it so that messages in notifications aren't shown on the lock screen? I've tried every setting and searched online but no luck.

Thanks for the responses, but I really don't want to spend £800 on a phone only to cover it in a 7 quid case. Matte black it will be then.wiggy001 said:

The absurdity of folk buying phones purely for the exterior finish only to cover them up. Like buying Halfords seat covers to "protect the seats" in their new car. Bonkers. loudlashadjuster said:

I fit a case because I'm often working on cars and using it to take pics, as a torch and looking up ho to guides. The case protects it when I invariably drop it or drop something on it. It's there to keep it working and protected. I paid a lot of money for it and I don't want to have to go through the hassle of claiming on the insurance if I do break it.
As an iPhone user I also have one eye on the resale value as that helps the man maths come upgrade time.

My iPhone 7 is at 100% at 8:00am. I browse the net on my one hour commute, listen to Spotify (offline) for a couple of hours, send a few e-mails etc. and my battery is down to 30% by 2:00pm. I have screen at lower than usual brightness but most notifications running. Close apps when not in use.
Is this normal!?
