Having deliberated over whether to upgrade from a 6 to a 7Plus, I'm going to click the button later today on a deal with BT Mobile:

iPhone 7Plus 128GB
6GB data per month (inc tethering)
24 month contract
£200 up front
£42 per month
£100 cashback from Quidco
£150 amazon voucher from BT

And looks like I can get over £200 trade in on my old phone at Game.

Any reason not to? Interested in people's experiences with BT Mobile (I'm coming from Vodafone which, apart from some teething issues 2 years ago, have been fine for me.

I've two SIM-only contracts with BT and it's as you would expect; a mobile network wink which means there are not-spots and call drops just as with any other. In general though I would have no problem switching my SIM (currently Vodafone) to them when the time comes. Their coverage around my home area is actually much better than Vodafone.

I did have a problem porting a number from EE to BT (from EE to EE in other words!) which took a few days to sort out but BT were very helpful and informative throughout. What was especially impressive is that no matter who I spoke with, they seemed to understand what had gone wrong, who was on the case and what the expetced resolution timescales would be.

As with any major utility supplier I know some have issues with BT, but having had phone, broadband and now mobile with them for over 20 years I can honestly say I've had no real problems.

Thanks for confirming. I too have phone and broadband with them and have no complaints. I guess when a deal seems this good I naturally question it!

I have a 7 and bought ones of these cases http://www.torrocases.co.uk/collections/iphone-7/p...

I previously had a 6 and bought the same case for it with no issues but the one for the 7 is making my voice muffled when speaking on the phone. Can anyone recommend a different brand with a similar fold over cover.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing.. Sounds a great deal. I'm on BT Broadband already so qualify too. Did you click on the BT Mobile link in Quidco (looks like it's 90 quid cashback maybe?). Did they also confirm the tethering to you as I didn't see it mentioned?

Quidco is now £90 (it was £100 yesterday annoyingly). Tethering is mentioned in one of their Q&A things.

The main annoyance is that yesterday the phone was showing as low stock, today is was available for ordering. I've placed my order but no idea when I'll get it. I just wanted to grab the deal with the amazon voucher before it changed. Although knowing my luck it will go up tomorrow...

Just bought a 256gb 7 plus this past weekend as the battery on my 6 was totally worn out. Should not have bothered, I literally cannot tell a difference other than the camera often freezes on start up and I keep on accidentally bringing up the Apple Pay screen up when trying to unlock the phone.

As an added bonus they removed a genuinely useful feature, the headphone socket, to make this truly the first iPhone worse than its predecessor. I'd recommend anyone get a 6S plus and save the disappointment - plus a few £.

I have the identical experience...the bloody pay screen pops up. I tried the adaptor with my Bose in ear headphones...no joy.

You can disable this in settings.

Wallet & Apple Pay>Double-click home button

This was the same in iOS 9 but I agree that the added TouchID sensitivity and lack of physical detente makes it more likey to be triggered.

The biggest issue I have is being unable to answer calls.

More often than not swiping just doesn't answer a call from the lock screen frown

On the other hand I've had mine from launch day and am still pleased with it. Yes, it is only an incremental update, but the more solid build, waterproofing and better camera make the difference for me.

Where was that announced?

This was on MacRumours a couple of weeks ago, and I thought they had been making noises about dropping sales for a while now?

I don't disagree about Cook not having the vision that Jobs had, but I'm not sure he's really 'fked it' yet. If Apple are to be believed they've had the most online orders for the new laptops ever, although that's probably less to do with the product and more to do with a lot of people that haven't been given the option of anything up to date for the last few years.

can see mass recalls of the macbook happening if you look at the issues people are seeing with it.

I think even if that does happen it'll be a good many years before people really start to leave the Apple ecosystem. A lot of people don't want to leave iOS and OSX, the brand loyalty they command is just crazy.

Apparently my phone is being delivered today, so not a long wait for new stock at all.

And just to add, BT have now changed their offers. The deal I got is now only 3GB data and £125 gift card.

sorry I meant profit not sales

he has fked it. No new products to speak of, just unpopular and lacklustre 'enhancements' to existing ones.

They've got a $250 billion warchest. They'll probably be ok for the foreseeable even if some investors get jittery in the short term.

you don't build up that kind of cash reserve to cover you through a period of mis-management and declining popularity - you use it to avoid getting into that mess in the first place. Investors care about return, just being told "yea but we've got loads of money in the bank tho" is not going to work. If profits falls, share price falls, return goes out the window - unless they use that cash to start paying out big dividends. They started paying out rock bottom dividends in mid-2014 and are continuing to do so. Increasing the dividends won't solve the underlying problem though, and they need to do that to retain/rebuild long term confidence as it will be starting to waiver.
