An interesting article working out the cost upgrading every 1, 2 or 3 years.

Interesting. I wonder what the numbers would be to upgrade every year to a second hand last-year's phone.

Just got a 6s in case the 7 is sans 3.5mm socket. The socket I need and the idea is it all gets worked out when I upgrade, everyone else will have done the leg work.

That said, not overly impressed with the leaks so far. Tomorrow will tell.

Removal of the 3.5mm means more opportunity to waterproof ... Bring it on!

I was watching the Samsung stuff with the battery in the news and showing people using the phone under water. Cannot remember the last time I needed to do that. Maybe extra rainy countries or at the sea side or something. Not a deal breaker shirley, for most normal use?

I could have used something similar at La Tomatina a few years ago...non-weatherproofed phone lasted about a day smile

I believe the latest Samsungs cover this without the need for a flap covering sockets.

What you need then is a fruit proof phone.

My iphone wishlist -

  • A proper dedicated notification LED - not the bloody camera flash!
  • Genuine functionality that allows you to move files about without hindrance
  • Faster scrolling speeds - scrolling on an iOS device is *SUCH* a frustrating experience. You can actually tell, without seeing the phone, when someone is using an iPhone - just by the finger / hand movements in scrolling.
I've been a fan of apple kit since the early 90's, but iOS drives me nuts.
So not "no headphone jack"...?
I have honestly never used a headphone jack on any iPhone I have had. I don't use headphones on my phone, just Bluetooth devices and the inbuilt speakers.

I will admit I do use headphones on my iPad, using an adapter isn't the end of the world really and it'll come with one!

List of predictions from IFL Science:

Reiterated rumors Apple plans to remove the 3.5-millimeter earphone jack. He said the extra space will be utilized to make room for a second speaker.

Instead of earphones, the iPhone will come with wireless “Lightning EarPods” and an Earpod-to-headphone adapter

Five color options. Apple will continue their silver, gold and rose gold models, but they will get rid of the space gray and replace with it dark black and "piano black" options.

iPhone 7 will come in three storage capacities: 32, 128, and 256 gigabytes,

Two 12-megapixel lenses on the iPhone 7 Plus – one wide angle and one telephoto.

3 GB of RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus and 2 GB for the iPhone 7.

A “next-generation A10 processor" to enhance processing speed, although Apple may cap this due to overheating fears.

Upgraded camera flash that contains four LED, two in “cool colors” and two in “warm colors.”

“True Tone” display technology, matching the displays on the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

IPX7 water resistance, which will make the device resistance to at least splashes or light showering, and perhaps being submerged up to 1 meter (3.3 feet).

An ambient light sensor to improve low-light image quality.

A pressure-sensitive home button that doesn’t require clicking.

I guess we will see tomorrow smile

Had my iPhone 6 since launch day, 19th September 2014 I believe.
Have no intention in swapping it for a 7.

Had a brand new iPhone 4 when it came out. Bought a refurbed iPhone 5 a year after it had came out.

I'd probably get £250 for my phone right now, 128GB model.
An extra £400 would get me the equivalent iPhone 7 silly

Am I right in thinking that you won't be able to charge the phone and listen to music through headphones, if what they are saying about removing the 3.5mm jack is true?

Apple have been using their own Ax SoCs since iPhone 4 I think?
And the A* cores are ARM cores.

Apple don't add magical fairy dust to make them any different than the other ARM licensees despite what many Apple devotees would like to believe.

Apple;
'We have made it unbelievably simple for you to still use your old headphones with the Apple lightining to 3.5mm adapter'

Everyone else;
'Is having to carry an adapter with you more simple than just keeping the heaphone jack?'

Apple;
'Unapologetically so'

I've got a launch day iPhone 6 with an ageing battery, so will be jumping in. At the time, I did toy with the idea of the 6 Plus, but due to lack of stock and not being 100% about the larger size, I played it safe and went with the 6. I'm now completely sure I want the larger phone, so will be going for the 7 Plus, or whatever they decide to call it.

If the rumours are true, the improved camera system sounds like a worthwhile upgrade for me (the 6 camera is basically the same as what was in the 5s) and the 3GB of RAM that's rumoured to coincide with it will be useful for overall phone performance.

Should still get £200 - £240 for my unlocked 6.
I'm the other way round, bought a 6 plus on release day, thought I would like it,as I'd had a Xperia Z1, and liked the size, however, it's just too big. Sold it to a phone place yesterday, and I'm currently using a 5S, which I find is much more usable in size. Maybe I've just got small hands smile

I went from a 6 to a 6s purely as i got one through work (I wouldnt have spent the money myself) and nearly got a 6s plus until I held it again. It really is a ridiculous size. No way I could live with it full time.

It is going to be a bit marmite. I am interested to see which way it goes. The fanbois will be all over it like a rash because Apple, however I am interested in the functionality. Going to let the early adopters figure it out.

Now, how do you charge bluetooth earbuds?

The should have a lightning -> lightning cable to charge the buds from the phone whilst also being able to listen to music through them?
