Had a Oneplus One. Good looking, fast, and cheapish. Failed after about 4 months, and I simply could not get ANY satisfactory resolution. Never again! frown

Switched to a Moto G 2015 last October. It's been great, but 8Gb storage is pretty small for apps and the SD card slot doesn't actually help that much.

Would definitely go for a Moto G4.
Not long had my OnePlus 3 and I have sent it back for replacement/repair due to horrible yellow cast across half the screen. Its patently obvious under light/dark grey backgrounds (and you'd be surprised at the number of apps with such!) and to me, even noticeable under normal conditions on plain white, especially when using in landscape. Just checked the service status and it says 'no fault found' (despite them also having clear pictures of the issue).

That'll be me getting the phone back exactly as it was then.

Not gonna argue with them if so, just going to sell it on and get something else. Its clear from OPs forums that they aren't that arsed about stuff like this. You only get 15 days to actually have them replace your phone, after that its repair only (AIUI). The old adage 'buy cheap, buy twice' is ringing in my head (again!). They've used an older, cheaper pentile AMOLED display and I have to say my experiences of LCD displays in phones has been much better and I'd be inclined to stick with LCD next time.

I bought a ZTE Blade S6 15 months ago for £165 and just bought my wife one for £140. Accepts 2 SIMs, takes an SD card and has decent battery life. Mine has behaved perfectly for the past 15 months. 5" screen and a fairly slim case.

I've been using Nexus phones thus far but my Sony Z2 which I was using as an interim was dropped earlier and decided life was too much so just died.

I've just purchased an Elephone P9000 on Amazon as I require a Dual SIM phone (I got tired of carrying around 2 phones). Anyone had any experience of these?

You wouldn't touch what? An android phone? As that article doesn't mention any particular problem with Chinese phones.

Either way, it's the most idiotic thing I've read today.

Back on subject, I have a xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro, amazing phone, anything close from the usual iPhone/Samsung/Sony etc would cost 4 times as much

Chinese phones must have root kits (back-doors) pre-installed from new by law.

I've recently changed to an Oukitel K6000 Pro.

Brilliant in my view. Slightly thicker than my previous Cubit but that is the trade off with the 6000mAh battery.

It takes a long time to fully charge but I am getting home some days with 75% life left so worrying about running out is never a problem these days.

Octacore processor. 3gb ram. Full HD. Fingerprint recognition.

A lot to like for £130

Thought you might have something which confirms your claim that all Chinese phones are affected. All I seem to find is all Android phones have a vulnerability and that some with a specific chipset/android version are also at risk.

I've been through the first few links and none of them verify what you claim.

how did you find the cubot?

Am looking for a phone for around £60 for a 10yo girl, so just want it to be sturdy, hassle free yet stylish enough. Seems there are both Cubots and Oukitels in this price range. Am not expecting too much, hopefully just something ok.

Not only phones it actually includes any computing device. No Chinese device can be trusted.

Again, those stories are about something else.

The first one is about a specific phone sold in China running a bespoke operating system.
The second looks to be about phone encryption, which doesn't factor unless you (or your phone) is in the hands of the Chinese government.
The third has some relevance but is mainly about China's version of the same terrorism laws we have in the UK and US.

These all seem to be related to China's internal security rather than phone exports, and they don't sound far removed from what the NSA in the United States have been doing.

I can't see anything you've posted that suggests China are making their phones do anything that hasn't / isn't already being done by the US. If anything, they're just being more open and honest about it, unlike the USA.

It doesn't seem a valid reason not to buy one, anyway.

Agree, I can't see anything regarding exported phones.
