i bought a droidbox, and whilst i work in IT it has a reasonably high barrier to entry. 3 different builds on the same hardware, a ton of apps... pain in the arse interface... and seemingly no pre-loaded easy way to "get all TV and films for free etc" like everyone bangs on about. However, i am willing to give it another go. Can someone post a link to a beginner's guide to Kodi please? ta

Personally I just bought a firestick and put KODI and exodus on it. Slowly added further addons which is leading to a few high quality ways to watch tv/films rather than a fully loaded box.

I use tvaddon.ag on mine. It looks after all the add ons and updates stuff. Exodus is currently the best add on for movies and TV series. Haven't had to do anything to it in months, just works.

I use SPMC on mine instead of Kodi, Kodi fork which is optimised for Android devices, runs better for me.

Pre-loaded boxes are a rip off and a nonsense. Usually ste quality box and a build with outdated addons installed. Getting every channel for free in quality and with ease is just not possible. Addons might pop up now and again that give you access to the "premium" live channels but they inevitably stop working shortly after. Live sports can be had but becoming harder to come by now by all accounts, wouldn't know as I use a subscription service.

A Kodi box is never going to be a plug and play stick it behind the TV and forget about it option, just doesn't work like that. Using Kodi for TV is always going to take some tinkering to keep things up to date.

With my sports sub, a Real Debrid account, Exodus, ReleaseHub and a couple of others plus Freeview my TV viewing is sorted. With Kodi, NowTV and a plex sub for the NowTV BOX in the kitchen the missus is happy.

biggrin Sorry, wasn't intending to "nerd shame" Can point you to some resource dependant on what you want from it.

As somebody already posted , Seo Michael site is a great source for info for the latest Kodi stuff.

Thought I'd join this thread rather than start my own - trying to get kodi on to a fire stick but all of the tutorial videos mention using either es explorer or file commander. Both of which have been removed from the App Store apparently.

All the reading I've done suggests this is a move by amazon to stop the likes of kodi being installed.

I'm not even sure if I can side load it now as the adblink programmes will not work on my MacBook.

Any thoughts?

Odd as ES is still showing on my Amazon appstore.

It's been a while since I did this but assuming that you have an android phone & that the apk is stored on the firestick.

You can use a terminal shell app to connect to your firestick using its IP address and run the adb commands on your phone to install the apk.

Apps2fire app does this really easily.

There is also this method

Got a mate with an Android phone
Download Kodi and Apps to fire to Android phone. Send Kodi to Firestick using Apps to Fire. Doddle.

I would recommend SPMC over Kodi, link is further up in this thread.
