Surprisingly I think the touch bar could be a feature here to stay but what it feels like what the MBP really needs is a touch screen. After poking the touch bar for a couple of minutes I instinctively went to open another app by priding the screen. Doh!

Apple researched and concluded that people don't want a touchscreen on their laptop. Unless it's a really tiny one just above the keyboard.
Do you even realize how expensive a full size touchscreen would be?

Yes, although I'm not sure how easy it would be for someone who desperately wanted to see the contents of it to access it.
If it's nation states it's easier for them just to hit you until you tell them the password. You'd be amazed how many people walk around with 64GB of their life's most precious data rattling around in their pocket completely accessible should they drop it or have it stolen.

Brilliant! Glad I spotted this before it gets moved to the YouTube thread where it won't be relevant and no one will see it!!
I bought a 15" MBP Touch Bar a few weekends ago. Its brilliant. The ports are missing yes and at some point I will probably need a network adapter or a USB-USBC dongle but I can live with that.
The screen is great, the touchbar and touch ID is great. The keyboard is a little odd, but getting used to it, and the trackpad is a little too big IMO.
The only snag so far, was the price.

As an alternative to a bunch of dongles you can get a small portable hub/dock. I already have a very neat Dell DA200 for my XPS 9350 that has Ethernet, USB 3, HDMI and VGA, that works fine on my MBP. I also picked up a nice Huawei Matedock new off eBay for £45 with Ethernet, 2x USB 3, HDMI, VGA and power passthrough.
Both the Dell and HUAWEI docks run a bit hot though

Quite fancy one myself. I'm wondering if the touch bar can be mapped to certain parameters of software synths that are running as Audio Units in Logic Pro so you can overdub live editing of sounds made using the touch bar.MitchT said:

I am currently using a mid 2012 macbook pro with 2.5ghz i5 and only 4gb ram. I am considering upgrading to one of the new generation macbook pros.
I manly use the computer for internet and to use the zwift app/site to control my turbo trainer.
Would i be wasting money upgrading? Would i notice a big difference in performance? Would even a macbook or macbook air be a performance jump from the current computer?
To be honest the specs baffle me

I purchased a 2010 MBP with the old Intel Duo proessor in it and 4gb recently, fresh install it worked well.I manly use the computer for internet and to use the zwift app/site to control my turbo trainer.

To be honest, the new MacBook Pro would be overkill for just web browsing.I manly use the computer for internet and to use the zwift app/site to control my turbo trainer.
