Christ that was dire, somehow worse than I was even expecting. At least I don't have an urge to spend a stupid amount of money.

UK prices are going to be brutal.
If it's $1499 for the 13" without the silly touch thing then it's got to be at least £1400 I'd imagine.

Looks like it's either the Surface or a Dell XPS for me next then.

So the watered down 13" 'pro' without the touch strip is supposed to tempt me to switch from my current 13" air?

Smaller
Worse battery life
No USB-A ports
No magsafe
No dedicated thunderbolt port
No SD slot
Butterfly keyboard (which seems to be a love/hate thing for many people)
More expensive

Jesus christ apple....

The Air is no more, replaced by the MacBook Pro (because it's thinner)
I thought it sounded like they'll still sell the current one (presumably sub-1k, much like they did with the plastic Macbooks a while back), then you have a cut down Pro with normal F-keys at 1500 USD (probably same in sterling) and then the Pros.

Nothing particularly great there... Im seriously considering a surface book now after yesterday
Totally agree.

I'm off to see what discount I can squeeze out of Dell on an XPS 13 touchscreen. Adios Apple.

(Also sad that it looks like they're killing the desktop line up. If MS are sensible they'll release lower spec versions of the Surface Studio. They'll annihilate iMac sales if they do.)

The firm is looking lost without Jobs on the computer front....and no coming back this time frown

Pricing up on website.

13" £999 with 15" starting at £1599. Not bad at all
That's a surprise for the 13".

Deleted my original reply. Looks like I was looking at the wrong area.

Prices look to be a little more traumatic

13" £1499
13" with touch bar £1749
15" £2349

Is that it? Thoroughly disappointed.
Same here. Waste of time.

Apple have lost their way for sure - those are minor changes to products and I think the air range will be dropped.

All of a sudden the Surface Books price started looking a lot more reasonable.

Wow. £1500 and then I'd want to upgrade the RAM to 16gb on what is a decidedly average laptop.

Guess I may look for a deal on the old one then.

I've been debating changing to mac for ages now.

Mind is now made up.... I even get a discount on Dell through work!

Holy crap, I'm glad I didn't wait! The MBP I bought a few months back was a top spec 15" with dedicated GPU and cost me £1999. The base 15" model is now £1899 and doesn't even have the new touch bar!

This could of been a fantastic opportunity for apple to reignite interest in macs. But not at those prices. OMG

Given they now appear to have bumped the price of the old model, that even seems unlikely. bks.

Even with the discount I get through work the 13" and i7 processor and 16GB RAM is still over £2k. That's just insane... shame, I was really up for switching to Mac this time round.

Over to Dell to take my money! smile

Mad. The other day I sat thinking about how I'd build the new MacBook Pro - totally daydreaming. It would have to be a sort of iPad Pro that has touchscreen and a keyboard that you can take apart for various bits and bobs, blah blah. Turns out Microsoft released it yesterday! :-/

Serious question now boys. I havent had a windows PC since Vista and what made me run was the constant updates required and the horrendously bad virus software that slowed everything down. How much have things changed?
