Supposed to be a 5k one on the way.
Yep announced at the Apple conference yesterday of all places but it's not widescreen and "only" available at 27"

I also suspect it's more aimed at graphic\photo pro's then gaming\general purpose stuff.

Saw the price - didn't read the pre-order part. Apols!

Look at it as a £200 saving on the G-Sync premium that can go towards a Vega graphics card (or 2) wink

Won't a TV have excessive amounts of input lag though which makes them sub optimal for gaming...

I have a media PC set up on a 40" 4k TV downstairs. I definitely wouldn't want one on a desk. You would be looking up a lot which would get quite wearing after a while I imagine. I think width is better than height for desktop work.

True but they are lucky to get 30 FPS most of the time, and the controller is a lot more clumsy and imprecise compared with a mouse. Most conventional advice suggests that monitors are usually much better than TVs for gaming.

Look at a 4k/UHD TV and you'll struggle to find one at less than 40". You can get a 4k monitor at 27" which has much higher dot pitch and far better response times.

For productivity purposes rather than gaming, would people recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-Ultrawide-Monitor-2560...

Or a curved version:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-29UC88-29-Inch-Curved-...

Albeit 50% more expensive

This is my thinking too, I have a similar spec monitor to yours at the moment and I don't really see the point in upgrading unless I go higher res and larger screen. Unfortunately it looks like even the new 1080ti won't handle 4k at 60fps on ultra settings.

Been using the iiyama xub3490wqsu, great monitor.

Has a USB 3.0 hub, 3 HDMI in and DP in. Speakers are, of course, pretty terrible but there's a headphone jack out.

I chose it because it wasn't curved and I've had great experiences with Iiyama monitors.

Love it for work, haven't played any games on it though. I did need to beef up my GPU to be able to run it properly.

Got the same monitor, very happy.

Although next time I would go curved as the edges of this seem a long way away smile
