Does the Handset use Micro USB?

If so most people have multiple Chargers kicking about so O2 decided not to put Chargers in for Environmental reasons!

TBH I side with Giffgaff on this one, if you don't have one buy one for about £5 and it will be ok for a long time.

It's how it is now. There should be a cable to connect to a charger though?
Personally I wouldn't stress over it, I'm sure you have a drawer full of various plug in chargers. I recently fitted a nice mk built in USB mains charger for the kitchen. Two outlets, I have one micro USB cable connected and one Apple version. The family use those two points now instead of untold chargers plugged in around my house smile

You can pick up a micro USB charger for next to nothing even in petrol stations never mind supermarkets or electronics stores.

I have heaps of them lying around, dont need another.

Have you read the link? I would've thought they'd make the change obvious, like when you choose a phone to buy for instance, but I haven't found it yet.

Pretty sure I've not had a charger in the last 3 phones I've bought, it's a generic charger.

To those mentioning cheapy xhargers.

Not all chargers are created equally. Those really cheap ones are probbably 550ma at best, whilst ones you get with tablets tend to be 3A

One charges quickly and even 30mins will bump power levels significantly... One will only be of any use during an overnight charge

You can still get 2a+ chargers for £5 or so.

Err no. I asked a question. Strange response.
Never mind, just buy a charger and move on

I purchased a HTC One M8 from Giff Gaff about 2 years ago that came with a charger but my dad purchased a HTC One M8 from O2 around a week later and that didn't come with one. It even had a different box.

It doesn't mention on the website, so I would be a little cross, especially as its a low end phone, so more than likely to be for new smartphone users, or children.

I'd be at Customer Services, and see how they react first. Asking nicely might see one shipped. Maybe the web page will be updated smile

For reference, they seem to be the same price at John Lewis.

How does that work if the device catches fire, the first thing the manufacturer will do is try to claim you used the wrong charger.

The phone is actually responsible for regulating the current down to the correct level required.

I thought there was legislation brought in a while back to make all phones use the USB charger to reduce the amount of waste.
My last three phones have only come with a (too short) usb cable, no actual plug adapter.

Neither I, nor my OH, have ever had a phone come without a charger and unless there was a massive fk off red notice next to the product on the website saying "this does not come with a charger" I'd expect there to be one in the box. They can't just assume that everyone has the relevant bits of kit and given the rate at which USB plugs and sockets seem to change it'd be doubtful that it'd fit even if you did.

You should've been told on the website that the charger wasn't included. If you weren't, that's not right I think.

Some manufacturers no longer ship chargers (or headphones) with their phones. Perhaps GiffGaff is just taking the credit for this.
What was the phone? Was it brand new phone or refurbished?

Odd that it mentions O2 though, or is that where GiffGaff source their phones?

They use the O2 network.
