Mine came yesterday and it seems like a good phone.
Though it feels massive and unwieldy in my hand compared to my lumia 1020.

About to place an order, but wondering what people have been doing for "protection".

I have always been a screen protector/bumper case person, I am not rough with my phones but like to minimise the chance of damage.

Going with either Ringke Fusion or Orzly Fusion bumper cases - had a Ringke on my Nexus 5 that has been pretty good (although nothing stops the dust getting into the ports frown

Not sure what to do with screen protector though - OnePlus sell Tempered Glass ones which are supposed to be good, but there is one that doesn't extend to the sides (because of the curves), and one that does. Problem is that the former doesn't protect the whole screen (although bumper would hopefully solve this) but light refracts at the edges and touchscreen not too responsive. With the latter I understand a bit of the screen becomes unviewable under the protector which is annoying.

Leaning towards the latter but wondering if it is redundant with the bumper case...

Anybody?

I have had the above on my Oneplus3 since I bought it. Looks classy, very thin and stops the back getting wrecked when I put it on a table. Has protected the phone from drops onto soft surfaces, never dropped it on anything hard.

There are gaps round some edges though and I knocked the phone on a table edge once and put a "nick" in the side.

I've had the stock screen protector on it too since I had it. I normally don't bother. Screen becomes noticeably more greasy than a phone without one and it doesn't cover the full front surface.

Cheers - I did look into them but I wasn't happy about the protection it afforded so will definitely go for a bumper case of some description.

I didn't know it came with a screen protector - presumably the usual cheap plastic thing? Might use that along with the bumper case for a while and see how I get on...

The screen protector that comes on it is well applied which is the main thing but they are never a match for a bare glass screen. Based on my experience with gorilla glass it's almost impossible to scratch it anyway

My Oneplus X (soon to be son's), Oneplus 2 (wife) and new Oneplus 3T all came with pre-applied plastic screen protectors. The Oneplus X got a "puncture hole" in the protector so I got a glass protector a few months ago from Oneplus when they had a sale on. It doesn't reach to the edge, but , no more (very little) fingerprints and much better tactility. I'll get glass ones for the 2 and 3T when they next have a sale. Curved or straight? not sure yet.

New 3T 128 Gb owner here.
Thanks for the heads up re. sweat will have to get a case for cycling.
The pre installed screen protector is lifting at the edges top and bottom due to the glass curving away, has anyone found a better solution?
I'm loathe to leave mine naked as I'm not always super careful with gadgetry.

Andriod Nouagt due on the 15th btw.

Ordered!

Just realised I have had my Nexus 5 for 3 years, cost £340. Bloody good value really. £450 for the 128GB Oneplus 3T. Still better than Pixel / Galaxy / iPhone etc...

DBrand make cases for the OnePlus 3, but they are more akin to the official OP ones.... they just have more options. On the 3T OP have managed to make the pre-applied tempered glass screen protector cover more of the screen compared to the one on the 3. But its still not full coverage owing to the rounded edges of the glass (2.5 D glass they call it).

I would advise keeping it on. I took the one off my 3 right away because the screen looks better without it and because it didn't extend to cover even the entirety of the OLED panel, you got a distracting rainbow like internal reflection off the protectors edges. However, after my trip to HK where I had the phone mostly in pocket (on its own with no other stuff), I managed to get a few hair-line scratches in the screen. Presumably from tiny lint/dust particles in my pocket.

They can harp on all they like about gorilla glass... it still seems easy to scratch. I hunted around for a replacement protector on ebay but concluded all the 3rd party ones are either plastic or they suck. So bought an original OP version to re-apply. It took ages to get on without trapping stuff under it and when I eventually did manage it, I got it on slightly cock-eyed. So yeah, just leave the bd on!

As an aside... I did try a 3T in the O2 store and I noticed right away how much snappier the performance is. Not sure if this was a result of tweaks made to Oxygen 3.5 (this is what the 3T in store was running, vs my 3 running 3.2), but I noticed it and the 3 is not exactly a slouch. Animations, app tray scrolling etc all seemed snappier. The screen also appeared brighter but I can't be too sure since I use the sRGB mode instead of the nastier looking normal mode.

thumbup Thanks, I will keep the protector on, and perhaps replace with a OP one if I want an upgrade. Have always had a screen protector on since I dropped my Sony Ericsson P900 and smashed the screen...

I have a OnePlus 3 (not the 3T) and the first thing I did when I got it was remove the pre-applied screen protector. I can't stand the things and have never scratched a screen without one.

I usually don't bother with a case either, but the camera on the 3 stands so proud that it is clearly designed to have a case fitted so I got a semi-transparent flexible one that gives a little bumper protection too and it has been very successful.

From what I have read, if you have a 3 there isn't enough of an advantage in the 3T to make it worth upgrading unless you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest, so I plan to stay with my 3 for now as I have only had it a few months.

As an aside.
Look at the display ipads and iphones in Apple shops. No screen protectors and the glass screens wipe clean easily despite all the kids playing around on them. I wonder if they do get many accidents in the those shops.

Had mine 11 days now. seems pretty good although the network connection feels slower than my previous S5 galaxy which was three years old.

Also find it is very 'slippy' in my hand due to the very smooth back panel so think I need a case for it

You do, if only to protect the camera.

How quickly have they turned up in comparison to the lead times chaps? Mine said "4 weeks" but I'm hoping it won't be that long...

How are you 3T owners finding the camera? I'm looking for a new phone and one of my top priorities is having a great camera. I like the 3T for its value for money and the Oxygen OS. Maybe I should be looking at the pixel though for better camera? Don't fancy paying pixel prices though considering no waterproofing or wireless charging like its competitors.
