I would have to get it out and weigh it which is awkward but its heavy and large. One of the things not really mentioned is its just got the one light at the front right its red on standby and other colours dependant what source is. Other half dislikes it but you get used to the light being there

Timely thread. My Orbitsound gave up on me so I needed a new soundbar.

I just bought the Goodman's, will be here on Wednesday.

Look into the Sonos play bar, not cheap but definitely worth the investment.

Nice thing is that you can add to the system at a later date i.e start off with the playbar, adding play 1's to use as the rears for a 5.1, but you can also use them individually maintaining flexibility.

Recommend googling reviews for Roth Soundbar. Few years ago we bought the gen 1, nothing could touch it that price. Don't have the latest Gen 2 or 3 however reviews are still strong and still around £100 mark.

Just had my Goodman's delivered. Great bit of kit and very good quality.

Can't seem to find a SkyQ Code though

Just installed mine tonight, quite impressed with the sound, decent bass with it, tried it via Bluetooth from phone and iPad, all good. Think I may get an Amazon Echo Dot after Christmas.

Had to go into the Sky options menu and change the sound from Dolby to normal, not sure how it works with SkyQ.

Do you find that the "balance" on it is just about right. By that I mean that whether its a movie/ sport whatever it just sounds "right" and doesn't over emphasise one thing over another a sort of good compromiser if you get me.

On initial impressions yes, good all round sound, nice and clear. Had football on last night and I noticed you could hear the commentary from another room clearer than you could with the surround system it has replaced at a similar volume level, must be to do with the way it projects the audio into the room maybe? Easy set up too, only took a few minutes.

Do you have to use the supplied remote or can the sky remote be used to control the sound?

I would think that would come down to how it was connected on ours it is optical from tv to sound base so anything we are watching on tv we just turn tv sound right down and use base sound. If you get me.

I ordered one based on this thread too! It arrived yesterday and I unboxed it this morning. It's a big jocker!! Looks reasonable quality build-wise. I'll have a play with it tonight (oo-er) and see what the sound output is like. I'm not a purist by any means and I'm sure it will be tons better than the tiny tinny speakers on the TV.

I was using the supplied remote as I have the sound off on the TV, optical from the Sky box into the Base and I have an android box running through an HDMI audio extractor into the base via analogue stereo. I don't think you can control the base with a Sky remote.

It's excellent for the price. I don't need much more to be honest.

Funny coming in just now after work and the wife could not figure why it was not working.

It's because you failed to select optical output.

Just ordered one of these for the home office. Hoping it'll add some punch to the tv in there and be passable for music via a Chromecast Audio.

Just to add on this topic, I connected one of these to my Sky Q mini box in the bedroom, as the TV sound was a bit rubbish.

I also had the challenge of finding a soundbar under 40cm long, to fit within a confined space, so this was perfect and no sub-woofer needed..

Blown away with the sound and it's Bluetooth music streaming capabilities. Nice bit of kit..

It arrived last night and made my wife freak out due to the size of the box! Luckily it's much smaller when in use. Hopefully she'll approve, if not it's going to be a quiet Christmas because I am NOT sending this thing back!

The performance : price ratio is simply brilliant! I have a Chromecast Audio plugged in at the moment and music sounds really impressive on it. I can't believe this thing only costs £70 or so. I had a £20 Amazon voucher which sweetened the deal even more.

Can't wait for the 3.5mm to RCA lead to arrive to see what the sound quality from the TV is like.

I'm looking around at getting an Amazon Echo Dot and a soundbase speaker for my TV, and that Goodmans base came up on my list too. Will it play nice with an Echo Dot over Bluetooth to use it as a wireless speaker while the TV is off? I know the Dot can connect to BT speakers https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display...., just making sure that there's nothing odd about the Goodmans that wouldn't let me do this?
