I'm looking around at getting an Amazon Echo Dot and a soundbase speaker for my TV, and that Goodmans base came up on my list too. Will it play nice with an Echo Dot over Bluetooth to use it as a wireless speaker while the TV is off? I know the Dot can connect to BT speakers https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display...., just making sure that there's nothing odd about the Goodmans that wouldn't let me do this?
I run Amazon Music through it no problem.

It arrived last night and made my wife freak out due to the size of the box! Luckily it's much smaller when in use. Hopefully she'll approve, if not it's going to be a quiet Christmas because I am NOT sending this thing back!

The performance : price ratio is simply brilliant! I have a Chromecast Audio plugged in at the moment and music sounds really impressive on it. I can't believe this thing only costs £70 or so. I had a £20 Amazon voucher which sweetened the deal even more.

Can't wait for the 3.5mm to RCA lead to arrive to see what the sound quality from the TV is like.

Can you not optical it out from the TV ?
Not on this TV. It's a little 24" thing that I use for occasional TV duties in the office with a Firestick and Kodi.

Anyway, the lead arrived today and it works just as well with movies etc as it does with music. Fantastic value for money. And the wife has just about accepted it now too.

I've ordered one too! It will be a step down from my surround sound system, but my 6 month old son is starting to crawl and it is only a matter of time before he pulls a speaker down on top of himself.

I faced the same dillema and ended up swapping my standmounts for some old school Mission floorstanders that are as wide as they are tall. Amazing what you can find on ebay.

Sounds ideal, but not in my small front room unfortunately.

Ah well, I don't think you'll be too dissapointed with the sound base, especially for the cost.

It's very, very good - for a £70 sound base.

But it doesn't compare to hi-fi equipment.

Just managing expectations! biggrin

I'm far from an audiophile, so as long as it's better than the telly's speakers all will be good.

Arrived, installed on TV, which is being replaced next week with a 4K, in 5 minutes.
It's great, I can hear speech without having the volume so loud that the wife complains.
All for £30 more than the round of drinks I got stung for on Xmas Eve.

And that in a paragraph is the whole goody thing about it. No complicated wiring no having to link up a sub woofer its as plug and play as you can get and it just "lifts" the sound so you can hear what you need to hear without cranking up volumes.

Bet you wish you were on commission smile

Got my Dot hooked up to it. Already played Amazon music through the iPad/phone, just need to try it through the Dot, will do that this weekend.

And plug and play with loads of inputs. I'm amazed it's only £70 really.

Just purchased one of these LG ones, £50 in Sainsbury's .
My LG to had awful sound quality & this soundbar is remarkably good for the price paid.
Had to buy optical cable separately of course
Fully integrated, just works via normal TV volume control .
Should have got one before, you don't realise how awful most TVs inbuilt speakers are..

They are, very few tv's have something half decent (Loewe).
I even wonder why they even bother on truly high end tv's (over 3000GBP), they are often even more abysmal because of the skinny form factor tv. I can't imagine a lot of people putting up with that, not forking out at least another K on a sound system. Looks to me like they could make the tv's even slimmer (and cheaper to produce?) without the obsolete speakers.
