I have the Goodmans Base set up, all is fine now with the TV, and I've connected it to my Echo Dot with Bluetooth. The blue light is flashing, and every few minutes it beeps. What have or haven't I done?

Bought this yesterday http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertain...

Very impressed with the sound, easy set up and it syncs easily with my Samsung TV.

Flashing blue is it waiting to be paired with a bluetooth thing.
Press the remote colour to match your input from the sound source.

It is paired to the echo, and I can connect and disconnect the echo to the speaker, and I have pressed the bluetooth button on the base. But its still flashing.

I just turn on the Bluetooth on the base and ask Alexa to connect my speaker. Maybe try unpairing and pairing in the app again?

I believe so, for both my system and the one that you are looking at.

Had my sound base set up for a few days and I'm impressed with it. My living room does look a bit bare now without the speakers/sub.

Bought the Goodmans, buggers have put the price up a little, about a Fiver I think. Get it on Tuesday to pair with the new 55 4K Samsung.

Does it comes with the optical cable that it needs to connect to the tele - can anyone confirm please?

My old school but LOUD Panasonic Dolby 5.1 system is now in my home office, gone from a tiny PC speaker type set up to LOUD! Need to be careful not to deafen myself it's like being in a NightClub in the office now - quite enjoying it!

Bought one of the Goodmans Bases for myself and have been pleased with it for general TV/film use. However, in the last few days I've noticed it appears to have developed a fault in that after a few minutes of use there is an audible whine/drone coming from the unit. It sounds like it could be a fan whirring away inside the unit and it goes away when you put the unit on standby. It's only noticeable during quieter scenes or lower volumes, but annoying nonetheless.

I'm in the process of returning the unit to the seller but wondering if anyone else has had this happen with their base? If it's a common fault I'd rather buy a different product than another base.

Nope. No problem with mine, very happy with it.

Just got mine, got it wired into the new TV via the Optical cable but occasionally when watching TV I'm getting a crackling sound intermittently. Anyone else had this? Got it on RADIO mode now and it's perfect so unsure whether it's just a HD TV Signal issue causing the audio bandwidth to drop a little?

All in all, for the price, a decent unit.

Not a patch on my 600W Surround System though, old school but bloody loud!!!!!!

My Goodmans Base went back to Amazon, the refund came through today. So now I've got a Samsung HW-H500 on order.

Been looking for a soundbar but I've got an amp running my main L and R speakers so could just add more for better TV sound but don't want surround.

Could I just get a small centre speaker under the telly instead? I don't want a delay between the speakers. I could probably just get rid of the amp

Depends
If your amp can output to a central channel then yes its pretty straightforward. If not then no probably
