How many hackers do you get on PS4 games? None. How many games are "ruined" by hackers on PC? loads if youtube/ forums is/are anything to go by.

Do like me and have both. wink

But seriously it probably depends on what kinds of games you play, if you just play popular titles like FPS, Action RPG etc then a PS4 is the best option. Yes graphically it won't be as pretty as a decent PC but it's more than good enough and it's easy, download or buy CD, switch it on and play. The constant updates can be a pain sometimes in terms of it always seems to want an update when you just want to play but the PS4 it handles them pretty seamlessly. It will also be the cheaper option, a decent PS4 bundle is £250.

However if you like to play more esoteric titles, indie, strategy games etc than upgrading your PC is a good bet. PC's have come a long way too so it's not as much of a faff with drivers as it used to be, Windows 10 is almost as easy as the PS4 in this regard IMO.

My game time is pretty evenly split between them, if I just want to lie on the couch playing the latest FPS game on the couch then I use the PS4, if I want to get deeply into a mammoth RPG or match my wits against the computer\someone online in a strategy game then it's on my PC.

PC Fanboys, the only thing worse than and PS4/XBone fanboy hehe

Seriously, I get the PC gaming thing, just seems that more time is spent "getting the most out of the game" then actually playing the game. If you happy for that, than be happy.

As poster above said if you really want the best of both worlds, buy both, don't be a slave to either.

Me, I like to just put a disc in (IE click the game I want to play, with either the digital or physical copy) and play. And I am sorry but in many cases you cant do that with the PC, there is nearly always "something" that needs to be done 1st. A prime example was over the Christmas period I was playing Skyrim on the PS4 with a friend, and all he did was go on about a load of mods he has on the PC version, so we went over to his so he could show me, after an 30 minutes or so of him messing about with the load order of the mods and GFX settings and other "stuff" we started playing on his 24" Monitor in his office. Did it look good? Yeah it looked amazing, and the new stuff he has was pretty awesome, but it took a bit of messing about to actually play the game and a small ish screen compared to mine, where he turned up and with 2 minutes we were playing the same game on a 100" projector sat on my sofa, eating pizza and drinking a beer.

Each to there own, but I just cant be arsed with the effort a PC requires to keep it at the top of its game, an that is long before anybody mentions cost....yes I know the irony of moaning about time and being on here hehe

I attempted to play WatchDogs 2 on PC this morning. I spent about an hour pissing about with settings, then when I was happy with them I couldn't be arsed to play. Maybe it's the older I get but I'm less and less interested in sitting playing games at a desk yet I'll happily play the same game for hours on the PS4 from the comfort of my couch. I have a HTPC connected to the main TV but the graphics card needs updating so I don't play much PC sofa gaming these days, it's not ideal for FPS either.

It's a tough one, I prefer FPS / shooters with KB & mouse but when gaming at a desk I lose motivation to actually play!

I think that's the hobby for some people, making, installing and playing mods. Which by its nature is about faffing about. Same for PC hardware geeks some like the faffing around with drivers and settings.

You can just play 'vanilla' which is identical to playing on a console. Click and go.

One very positive thing for the PC is the price of games, especially if you can wait a little while after release. Which if you are not mad on multiplayer is not difficult. And if you can wait even longer, by playing games from the previous year, you can stock up on AAA games (generally GotY edditions) for peanuts in the Steam sales, et la.

Been there, done all of it, find whatever you fancy.

Something like a PS4 or Xbone can be had for half what a decent GPU costs though.
My Xbox 360 is still going strong after 10 years and runs games that came out 2 years ago without any hickup.

My PC is half decent, but not having to keep it to gaming spec means it stays relevant a lot longer.
I've been an avid (read: national competitions) pc gamer, but it's a hobby that can (like all hobbies) cost you a lot of time and money, which is fine of course. Console gaming is a lot more casual in that aspect.

That said, getting a new GPU and running a game on 4K smoothly can give you a warm feeling inside biggrin.

Whatever you decide though, get Titanfall 2. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I was the same initially but it really doesn't take long to get used to it, yes the first few sessions will be horrible but after a week you'll be playing like a pro.

In fact I now find third person games like Uncharted or GTA a lot easier on the PS4 as a controller is much easier for movement then the WASD keys and precise aiming isn't as important.

Yeah, I'm fine with 3rd person generally but aiming is very imprecise compared to a mouse.
I do ok with a controller but it still feel clunky to me.

Correct.
Sony decided that all peripherals needed a security chip.... so your old hardware is no good. Still works on pc though.

Just trying to think when I last had any issues with my pc, drivers are a doddle as manufacturers have software to do clean installs on the devices, games are great, graphics are far better than consoles, and it does more than just play games.

There are no real disadvantages to owning one and running games on it, it will always do things better than a console.

What the likes of a PS4, Xbox1 etc bring you is cheap gaming, just dont expect miracles from them and the software us usually far more expensive.

Also, dont even attempt to play games in 4k with them, even the planned gaming consoles coming out this year wont be able to run 4k, they may state 4k but it wont be "real" 4k, unlike a PC which can.
Then you need to avoid 4k tv's unless you buy high end 1k+ with a decent refresh rate, dont even attempt to play pc games in 4k on one, you just get stuttery graphics, you need a dedicated 4k monitor and a decent gpu, something consoles dont have.

I think it depends what you grew up with. I have always had consoles for games and PC/Laptop for everything else. I have tried a couple of games on PCs but find the use of keyboard and mouse completely confusing and quite frankly too much like hard work.

I've always used a PC apart from Gran Turismo which I bought a PS3 for which I now don't use and just collects dust.
Think I'll buy a 1070 card and upgrade the memory from 6 to 12 which is a cheap mod.
All my games are pc and mostly car stuff so I use the wheel I'm not a fps gamer.
Thanks for the input.
