May be the shortest thread ever, but has anyone got / seen the Lenovo P2?

Looks like a decent option for £200 phone to me - I've no interest in gaming and just use the phone for browsing, Facebook and Whatsapp. And as a phone.

And a camera, which is the only thing that lets down my Oneplus One. So particularly interested in experiences with that - would I actually be able to take decent photos of my kids without having to bribe them to remain completely still as I'm forced to at the moment?

Lenovo name also a big plus in my view, given their reputation for reliability in laptops.

Your thoughts / experiences?

Not seen the P2, but the Moto G4 Plus has a good reputation and is the same size: http://amzn.to/2jOyZkX

Lenovo actually owns Motorola now too.

Looking at the P2 it seems like it is a China-only model that some companies are importing?

Cheers for the reply. Might explain a post on another thread here about the number of times a minute a Lenovo handset was attempting to contact China Telecom...

Suspect that in itself would be all many people would need to discount it as an option!

I'm the perpetrator of the 'Lenovo phones China Telecomm' thread. Lenovo pulled the offending 'Adup' software in 2016, we're told. But, there are buts *if* data is still going back to CT, as in that thread.

There's a lot of choice in the handset market these days, the current Motorola's have a lot of mechanical stress-testing at the factory, my robust chums seem unable to destroy them. :-)

Reason I brought it up was more that parts of the UI may be in Chinese and likely no European warranty support.

The Motorola G4 is solid and reliable, good value for money.

In terms of Lenovo phones it's worth visiting their web site as they sell direct, including the Motorola phone, which would suggest a UK warranty but only if bought from the right place. Having just looked it shows the P2 as not currently available which either means a risk with the warranty or they are refreshing the range. Either way I'd not buy one.

I wouldn't worry about the sending info to China thing, almost all modern internet connected devices send info back to someone, I'm not sure what makes China worse than America or anywhere else in the world.

Thread bump..

Anyone tried a P2 yet? You can now buy them at three so assume a proper UK device. 199+10 topup. Looks pretty good for that money and the massive battery holds a certain appeal. 5100mah.

It's a bit large but in the ball park price range for me to replace my current phone.

That or wait for the Moto G5...

I picked one up on Thursday afternoon to replace my z3 compact and having not charged it since 4pm on Friday it still has 15% battery! Total screen on time is 9 hours and I have been using spotify with the screen off for another 4 hours or so.

As for the rest, the screen is great and the fingerprint scanner works well. The build is surprisingly nice and as good as the all conquering oneplus 3T at twice the price.

It's early days, but from initial impressions it's a fantastic phone even compared to competition in the £300-£400 bracket. I picked this over the oneplus 3T and the Moto Z Play primarily for the battery. OK, it's not bleeding edge in terms of hardware but it's certainly good enough - the 4gb of ram is right up there with many of the flagships and apparently it will get Nougat at some point, which - for me - sealed the deal.

FYI - you can apparently use the top up on a PSN account - though I haven't tried it yet.

Cheers, really helpful, how have you found the size, I too will be coming from a z3 compact that has started to misbehave on charging and staying charged!

The size of the Z3 Compact was one of the main reasons I got it, but after 2 years of use, like you, the battery has been struggling to last a day even after a full reboot.

I'm already getting accustomed to the size - it's certainly more difficult to use one handed but not entirely impossible. I have "normal size" man hands and can reach most the screen with my thumb with the exception of the very top - which is a pain for entering a web address but has otherwise been ok. It also has a function whereby the screen can be minimised (by a C gesture on the screen) to the bottom corner which actually works quiet well.

Specifically coming from the Z3C i'm most impressed (other than the battery of course) with the fingerprint scanner. It works really well.

In all honesty even if this phone was £300 I would have probably still got it!
