Whilst the S8 looks great, I have only had my S7 for a year and it is still going strong. I will probably wait for the S9. Had the 3,5 and now 7.
I may even, god forbid, see what the iPhone 8 has to offer for it's 10th anniversary. Was not impressed with the last one I had though (3g).
Jesus, has it really been 10 years since the iPhone was introduced?

Got my 3G in 2008 - still have it somewhere, however the original iPhone (the useless one as it lacked 3g connectivity) was released back in 2007.

I've had the same phones as you.

Not sure about getting another premium phone next year to be honest, it seems a bit pointless, it won't do anything that the S7 won't.
I wait until nearer the time but might buy a phone outright and go to a sim only contract.

Been on Sim only contracts for about 3 years now. Bought the last 2 phones, S5 and S7, outright (interest free on purchase credit card). Works out much cheaper over the course of the contract.

Very have them for preorder at £689 plus if you pay for it via a new very account they will give you 20% off and you'll have at least 6 months interest free to pay it off. Just over £550 which is probably the cheapest you'll get it I should imagine.

I have a S6 edge 64gb which has been faultless on a 36.99 a month plan. I had my heart set on the S8 with my upgrade due any time however it brings nothing drastically new to the table, it looks too tall and I know the fingerprint scanner on the rear will do my head in.
I today placed an order for an S7 instead- free handset, 25 pounds a month for a better plan than i was on and then got an offer for my S6 from Music Magpie for 207 pounds.
Works out at about 395 over 2 years for the S7 compared to over 1000 for the S8 on a comparable plan.
I have already ordered a Spigen case for it as they make lovely cases for the Galaxy.
I have one of the 'slim' cases and the 'neo-hybrid' by Spigen for the S6 edge. The slim is great but protection is not going to be that great, the neo hybrid is good but the cut-outs on the bottom are uncomfortable.

Pretty much exactly the same boat as I'm in.

I'll need to hold the S8 to be sure, but I'm 99% certain is too tall for my liking. Like you, I can get an S7 for *considerably* cheaper than either my current contract on my S6 or a new contract on an S8.

Unless I fall in love with the S8...

I briefly watched the "unveil" on tv a couple of days ago, a huge auditorium with hundreds of people in the audience, all choreographed to stand up, sit down, cheers, wave arms in the air etc as the phone was revealed in all its glory.

Then they switched to a huge room with demonstration phones, with dozens of salesmen stood, armed folded, looking like bouncers.....

It's a bloody TELEPHONE ffs!

Idd, not to mention the people that camp outside every year when a new model arrives, instead of waiting a couple of days to get one :/ pretty sad tbh.

Get your S6 sold quick while values are high, delighted with 207 for mine as battery is starting to underperform, Going to 25 per month for a decent plan is a bonus.
I bought the S7 from Mobiles.co.uk, happy to be paying less than 400 over the 2 years. The S8 will be lovely but just not for me at over £1000 for 2 years, that's crazy and I am a Samsung diehard, always upgraded to the new Galaxy's.

Wow that looks like a great deal, 20% off and interest free for a year. What's the catch??

edit: seems like it's only 10% off for electrical stuff, 20% off for everything else.

Just be careful with Music Magpie, they'll no doubt offer a lower amount once they receive the phone from you. I sent a perfect, and I mean perfect IPhone 6 and they claimed it was damaged and knocked £200 from the original offer.

and the screen protector

seemed good for the money, less than £20!

Just ordered one of these. Had one of these type of cases when I had an S5 and thought it was pretty good.

Whereas I sent them the same and had full payment 3 days after sending. Did you send it with Royal Mail?

Yes, sent royal mail tracked. They did eventually pay the full amount, but only after I complained.

I was going to stick with my Nexus 5x, but mobiles direct have this for £35/mth on Vodafone. No upfront cost & 24GB data, hard to ignore that price imo.

Got me worried now, my phone is immaculate and I chose the courier collect option, gets picked up on Monday

What deals are people getting out of interest

I had £49.99 upfront, and got a JBL Flip 4 speaker worth £119.99 (apparently) included.

Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB Midnight Black O2 Refresh 3GB
£22 handset charge + tarrif another £25-£30 I think from memory.

As I use WiFi a lot I only average around 2GB of 4G traffic per month. I can upgrade it easily on O2 if I need to.

Just take loads of pics of it, i wrapped mine in silly amounts of bubble wrap so that even if it was dropped from the 10th floor, it would still be ok. I took pics of the phone, the phone in bubble wrap and the box sealed up. I had no issues.
