You should have watched last week's first episode. Woman on the show doing up a £300k house and only wanted to spend £2000 on the kitchen. When she was quoted £900 for fitting it, she reckoned she could do it herself. Not.

I did! I'm getting back into property development with a mate at the moment so I'm watching a ton of these shows. Not for any tips so much but more to keep me sane. Every now and then I sit in bed and wonder if I'm doing the right thing, I usually just think back to one of these shows and as long as I'm doing the opposite I think we'll be right.

Now, must go, I've got some research on picture scene wallpaper to do...

Painful to watch was that. She couldn't even calculate how many tiles were needed. Then when the chap in store reckoned it up she asked for 66 square metres instead of feet.

Loved the revolving lampshade of Max and his missus - I noticed that they used it to dress the finished house. Surely a candidate for the "a little bit Council" thread or maybe "winged horse of chavtat".

They seemed genuinely disappointed by the resulting sale prices of their delightfully decorated homes. Maybe try a bit of magnolia next time?

PS First-timers the older ladies did a first-rate job, even if they hadn't realised how much work was involved. The end product was a nice house, tastefully finished and I was pleased for them that they found a quick buyer. I would happily have lived there. Shows it can be done - they made £17k for 3 months work. Four of those a year and you've got a nice little nest-egg.

Agree with a lot of that but they didn't get a quick sale because they undermined the estate agent by putting it on the market far too high and wasted months before reducing it and getting a sale. It took them 4 months to get a sale. They need to learn that lesson or they won't be doing four a year!

The profit figure was also shown to be down to £14k, probably due to 4 extra months of loan / credit card and interest payments. Estate agent was spot on with ceiling prices. The final result did seem a decent house though.

Your doing well to do 2 a year unless you can finance 3 or 4 projects at the same time . Most of us rely on the initial investment and profit to roll on to the next project , buying , developing and selling is a 6 month cycle even if you sell it on the first day it's finished .

I watched the one last week with the woman having a budget of £2k for a kitchen which included the units, worktop, appliances, tiles and fitting. I wanted to punch her in the head the delusional woman. It wasn't a small kitchen either. The thing is though, she's probably quite intelligent in her day job.

I can only assume that they filmed several dozen people, and selected the dumbest, and therefore the funniest, in order to create an entertaining show.

No.
Again, no.

She lacked basic common sense, and had an inability to grasp basic concepts, nothing whatsoever to do with property development.

Great show though.
