what I don't want is persistant reminders from the browser of their 'recomended partners' sites via flags/icons etc on my workdesk - the 3 browsers I've mentioned all insist on doing this.
Please don't tell me to switch this facility off YOU CAN'T.
How other's put up with this uneccessary crap is beyond me.

I'd happily pay for a simple Browser. The 3 freebies mentioned have to earn their keep somehow??

Come on coder's there's definitely a market for a simple to use browser without any commercial ties which only works for the usersmile
As I said in last post thanks for suggestions - I may try a few after checking reviews etc.
If you're seeing nags/ads in the browser then these are something you've added, perhaps inadvertantly, or you have some actual malware.

No major browser has this kind of advertising/spam built-in.
That was my thought... I've used Chrome/Firefox/Opera and I can't say I've noticed anything like these "flags/icons" confused OP can we see screenshots of these?

Your machine has adware or browser extensions or malware on it.

Possibly installed by yourself as part of some "free" software, possibly pre-installed by whoever makes the PC.

Either way if you start with a clean PC and simply use IE, Chrome, or FireFox they don't do what you're saying above.

Many of us on this thread work in IT, myself included, respectfully you would do well to take the very useful advice you've already had but just to add to it (again), use Chrome, install the uBlock Origin plugin, live happily ever after.

But run a tool such as MalwareBytes and/or EmsiSoft on your machine to see if it finds anything.

If it's anything like my dad's old XP machine before it fell over in a malware-infested heap, it's probably something like this:

Forget plugins or special browsers, instead install this hosts file.

Yep OP sounds like you have something infecting your system.

A fresh install will clear it all out. Consider getting Windows 10 for its increased security too.

Perhaps you should also upgrade your presumably pre-historic anti-virus/anti-malware software. Assuming you have any to begin with.

I've used Firefox for yonks - certainly over a decade - and I've never experieced what you're describing. You have malware. I suspect your antivirus is as outdated as your web browser.

Considering the OP refuses to use the quote button, but instead pastes peoples' posts into his reply and prepends each line with ">", I'm not holding out hope for a sensible outcome on this thread.

I suspect he has gone off on a huff because he didn't get the answer he wanted.

Didn't want to say anything... Strange behaviour hehe

I'm betting on his computer already been infected with something. So his 'solution' has been to use an obsolete browser that the malware doesn't work with hehe

Thread Hijack!

How can I easily import my Chrome bookmarks into Firefox on Android?

I like Chrome for the ease of use between devices, but the browser has become a bit slow on certain sites recently

Why not start a new thread? Your question is completely unrelated to this one.
