Can someone suggest a simple web browser that works on all sites without allowing crappy pop ups and 'ads etc.
Please don't suggest Chrome/Firefox/opera etc. these are the opposite of what I wantsmile
I don't need syncing etc. just a simple browser, it doesnt even need a favourites drop down!

Does such a thing exist? The nearest I think you can get is to turn the images off in your regular browser, but of course that would disable content that you might want to see.

Why? If you are running on a device where you can install add-ons then just install something like uBlock Origin and you are done. Pretty simple.

I recently started using Adstock with chrome and it's totally transformed the experience. No more chappy ads, it's such a pleasure to browse the Internet now the see ads aren't taking up 90% of the news article I want to read.

It's the sites that throw the popups and have the ads, browsers do not have inbuilt ads as such.

What you are asking is equivalent to asking for a phone that doesn't allow ads scam calls etc. It's the line that the calls come through, not the phone.

As mentioned, simply put on an ad blocker and remove any undesired toolbars etc. Most browsers can be make simple like this.

Most users only use a few of the features in most software. The problem, is they all use a slightly different subset of all features. What you think are the basic features will be different to what others think. You'll stuggle to convince many that a browser shouldn't have favourites.

Chrome & uBlock Origin - don't remember the last time I saw an ad.

It doesn't exist because it is an extremely niche market. Why go to the expense of developing a simple browser with ad blocking built in when you could use Chrome or Firefox with ad blocking addons.

Same here. Can be a bit over zealous and block something you want to see but small price to pay. I switched mine off the other day to see the blocked content and then did some further surfing with it switched off, wow, I had forgotten what a truly awful experience the internet can be with adds hogging resources and bandwith.

chrome on android for some reason won't let you use ublock origin

Firefox, It 'feels like' there's much less data-mining too, I may of course be wrong

If it's on a PC then you could try K-Meleon or even Cyberfox

K-Meleon has buttons across the top to disable the loading of images, Javascript etc. It doesn't get any more simple really...

Browsers from a UI perspective are simple.

From a code pov they are not.

You want a 'simple' browser but one that can play video, html5 etc etc?

A browser is there to meet html specs and display web pages, how is it going to know what part of that page is advert and what part isnt?

What you want is an incredibly complicated web browser ....
