Hi all, I'm after some advice please...

I need at least 3 wifi enabled CCTV cameras at home (indoor initially) and I've been looking at a few options, what I really want is the following:-

WiFi
Movement detection
Night vision
Cloud recording
Speaker/microphone

The nest kit fits the bill however the cloud storage is a subscription service and when checking directly with their support earlier each camera requires it's own subscription which mounts up to quite a bit extra per month.

I also looked at the Y-Cam kit which again mainly fits the bill, free cloud storage (7 days) but no speaker build in and only 720p resolution.

Does anyone have any other recommendations I should consider before I push the button?

I'm not too sure a burglar is going to go to the trouble to spy on a house, scope out through the curtains, search for a particular camera that may or may not be within the house, research the lastest exploit for it, and then go back armed with their own electronic equipment to perform the latest exploit, vs smash a window and just rob the place : )

https://canary.is/canary/ are pretty decent - you get pretty everything you asked for and can save events. Their subscription model gives a longer window of data retention.

Also the alarm is really loud. (Which if your wife has her phone on silent at home when you are trying to get hold of her you can activate it to get her attention...)

Ring might fit the bill as it ticks all those points on your list. I've got the doorbell which has been excellent so far, so much so I'm considering adding a couple of the cameras to the network. Subscription is cheap but the fact that most of their cameras are 720p might put you off.

That induced a chuckle. We have Canary at home & did the exact same thing when I spotted my eldest son eating my crisps while we were out. Called him to inform him to desist but no answer, set off the Canary which he didn't know existed & he rang me within seconds as pretty much st himself. Needless to say he then cycled up to the local store & bought me 2 bags of said crisps.

Another vote for Canary. Think the Sonos of the CCTV world.
