Did you do this on an existing account or create a new one specifically for the task? I'm wary about pushing the get arounds on my main account should they decide to arbitrarily close it in the future
Existing account, although not the one that has been my primary account in the past.It is likely these various workarounds will get closed with time, so it can be worth going to the extra effort (and I mean maybe an hours worth of time) to get it set up in a way that should be reasonably 'take down' proof.

If they offered a version without music/downloads or background for £5-8 a month for just add free I'd be right on that.
The music is what's driving cost here, it's similar to Amazon/Spotify but not as good as it only really seems compatible on desktops/phones and tablets. None of my streaming devices support it directly.
Don't need to download videos, don't need to have background play.
Now they might be good for some people but a 'basic' plan would do me.
I'd sign up to that. I don't need YT Music or to continue playing when my phone is locked or being able to watch offline. The music is what's driving cost here, it's similar to Amazon/Spotify but not as good as it only really seems compatible on desktops/phones and tablets. Why would I?
I am sure they are doing just fine, and i suspect the only people complaining are the advertisers.
Out of interest, if the add is blocked, do the YTers miss out on that revenue as well/
I suppose one reason is that you agreed not to block as part of the T&Cs that you agreed to. I know it doesn't mean much to some people, but I try to keep my agreements and expect the same in return. I am sure they are doing just fine, and i suspect the only people complaining are the advertisers.

The ad-blocker pop-up has changed, and is back:
I guess I'm finding an alternate source for videos. 'cause I'm not sitting through s**t adverts for s**t I'm not interested in.
Goodbye, Youtube.
I don't seem to be getting the warning messages any more. What's happened?I guess I'm finding an alternate source for videos. 'cause I'm not sitting through s**t adverts for s**t I'm not interested in.

They must be doing it in waves of accounts. Ad block on chrome here and always been ad free until something changed yesterday. I now get a short pause before the start of each video with the title of the ad in text appearing then vanishes. 5-10 second pause.
Hoping the work around continue to work because unfiltered YT on my phone is unbearable.

It's like a lot of things pitchforks would, rightfully, be out if Youtube were doing anything with your content and data, outwith the T&Cs but something basic, fundamental and explicit that I have agreed to comply with, I can just ignore.

I use uBlock Origin on Firefox, works ok.
Just started to get a random pop-up when I open Youtube on Firefox, "Ad blockers are not allowed on Youtube". A click on the X gets rid of it, then it stays away for a while. They need to edit the second bullet point. "Ads allow youtube to make billions worldwide"

Sometimes I do but I know I am bound by them, especially when it's obvious that, without the advertising revenue there would be no Youtube and those making content would not get anything for doing so. Especially as they charge a fee to go ad free.

I assume the ads are only on videos where the content generators authorise it and make money, in which case, I guess we'll go back to the "old days" where people put content up to be helpful, or for fun, not just to generate money. These days being a Youtuber is a career. I've put up loads of YT videos either to share with friends, or, help other people with technical things. I don't ever generate income. It's like a lot of things pitchforks would, rightfully, be out if Youtube were doing anything with your content and data, outwith the T&Cs but something basic, fundamental and explicit that I have agreed to comply with, I can just ignore.
Interestingly the only real channel I follow is Matt Armstrong, and he includes his product placement in his videos, and still, there are ads at the beginning of his videos if I disable Adblock.
If they manage to kill off adblockers, it'll end youtube for an awful lot of people.

Then they started pushing Premium. For some strange reason ads suddenly became incessant, gruellingly long, and unskippable.
Hence adblock.
By sparking a technical arms race, Youtube are going to war with people who just aren't willing to pay the advertised price to use their platform.
I only started using adblock because they went full tonto with the ads.

Agree with this. The adverts didn't bother me when they were at the start of a video and you were able to skip after a few seconds. Hell, I'd even have tolerated a 30 second non skippable advert at the start of a video... But no, they had to go full on nuclear, interrupting videos with ads in the middle and having several adverts at the start was just ridiculous. Then they started pushing Premium. Other things as well like degrading the quality of the 1080 streams, which is all some of us need - my laptop is only 1080 but I normally end up picking a higher resolution so I don't get artifacts.. then YouTube complains too many people want to watch in 4k. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
Then the other issues like it pausing videos if it thinks you're not watching - I am watching, I'm using it as a radio station / music channel for background music. Shuffle play not working properly, and other foibles.
Finally the price, a tenner a month would have been reasonable but no, keep putting the price up. Just like Netflix.
They can bugger off. Their greed must be costing them members who would have happily paid a tenner a month.
