I am trying to Browse my Nokia N70 Mobile on my Macbook using Bluetooth. They pair together okay however after browsing no files appear in the Mac window. When I do the same with my Nokia 6320 or my sisters 6300 there are no problems, all the files, pictures, tones etc show up and I can do with them what I want. Is there a setting on the N70 I need to do to allow all files to be discovered?

PS. the N70 is a bloody awful phone!

I had the same trouble syncing my girlfriend's new SE S500i to her titanium powerbook. Some phones aren't natively supported in iSync so you just have to add the details to the config files.

This website shows you how to do it. If you're not at ease changing plist files as mentioned in the article, do some more googling and you should find that someone has packaged up an easy-download update support package for N-series Nokias.

Alternatively, as mentioned in the blog, the phones may be supported in later versions of Tiger, so make sure you've got the latest software updates.

I don't have a Nokia phone so I'm shooting randomly in the dark here, but if it acts like a mass storage device via USB then it should appear in the Finder as a disk. Using Bluetooth should just let you send and receive files. I've not tried using Mac OS X to use Bluetooth to 'browse a device' as per the Finder - there is a 'Browse Files' app (Bluetooth File Exchange) in Mac OS X, but it requires the remote device to support the necessary services for OS X to be able to use it.

This will depend on how you set up the device to start with i.e. when you paired the N70 with OS X - I know -all about the N70 so hopefully someone will be able to help - but I can confirm that if you try BT File Exchange on OS X with a device that doesn't support file exchange, then it'll say 'Device does not have the necessary services'. If you are getting a window i.e. a successful operation, then it's either something simple like a setting on the phone (root directory / show files in phone or on card, etc.) or something lame like OS X not fully supporting the Nokia protocol for that phone.

Have you checked the Nokia website for Mac resources for that particular model?

Yes it's the Bluetooth file exchange app that does not work correctly, the window says operation complete after I browse the device however no files appear in the window, it works okay on my other Nokias. I'll have a look through the N70's settings and see if there is a file exchange setting off or similar. It's a phone that has been given to me to use by one of my clients so I know nothing about it.

thanks for the tips.
